Quick & Easy

It does what it says on the tin - easy to open, decent interest rates and great online banking Reviewed on: 8th November 2015

The best customer service in all branches

5
I've always loved being with NatWest, purely because they are all very friendly and inviting to me whenever I enter a branch, which is important for me as I'm a student and very shy with little queries and I just feel comfortable with them. Reviewed on: 7th November 2015

Friendly, helpful and attentive

When dealing with natwest either in branch or via telephone or online banking I have always been completely satisfied. They go above and beyond to help with any query and are very polite and professional whilst doing so. Reviewed on: 6th November 2015

never had any problems with this account but so many other banks now offer a monthly reward for banking with them and this one gives nothing Reviewed on: 31st August 2015

Easy to use, but check some of the benefits

Banking I have found the general banking trouble free. Direct Debits and standing orders are easy to set up. When I have had problems such as when I ordered something online and it did not arrive, staff were helpful in implementing a 'chargeback. Mobile Banking I find this app invaluable and very easy to use. You can check your balance when out and about, very helpful when out and about, especially near payday when you need to double check your account. You can also transfer money between account using this app and transfer money to individuals-useful when you are at work and get a call from a teenage son who has lost his bus pass, no need to log on to a computer to transfer the money, it can be done in seconds if you have a smartphone-provided you have already set this person up on your account. Internet banking Easy to use and you can search as far back as 6 years ago. Direct debits can be checked, you will be shown the last date when the payment was made and can stop the Direct Debit if you choose. Setting up a payee is fiddly as you have to use a small calculator type device that you insert your card into and follow the instructions. I keep losing this little device, however once you have registered that person you do not need to use it again you can simply log into your internet/mobile banking and transfer the money. There are benefits attached to the account , one of which is Green flag membership, however when I broke down over 200 miles from home I discovered towing was limited to within 10 miles from home and a hefty charge loomed for the remainder of the journey. I recommend that you check the small print for this. On the plus side I have just logged on to discover that there is now cashback for utility bills. Overall a good bank account and helpful branch staff. Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

Excellent service

I try to manage my account by online, branch, telephone and even cash machine. This way where ever I am, I can access information about my account and act accordingly. Online - I find this a secure process, using both a four digit number and letters/numbers from your chosen word. The screens are well laid out, showing the details of not just your current account, but any additional accounts that you have. To access your individual account is easy to use and accessing transactions is a simple process to interact with. Branch - I find that both counter staff and the desk staff are helpful and friendly, I have been into the branch to ask for assistance with a query I had regarding my online banking and this was dealt with straight away. Telephone - I find it is easy to use the telephone process and the call centre staff are always courteous and helpful. Mobile - I like the fact that I can sign up for text alert, these you can set to your personal preferences, myself have mine set up to notify me when my balance goes down to a set point. Notification - If you have a payment going through your account that is over your overdraft limit, you can recieve a text message, notifying you of this item and it give you to the afternoon to arrange for additional funds to go into your account, without any bank charges being applied. In summary this is an account I would highly recommend to anyone. Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

OK

I've been with Natwest for ten years. Customer service is good and the Select Account is easy to use and manage (I like the online banking site). However, overdraft charges are high and I don't feel like I've been rewarded for my loyalty to Natwest. I would probably advise to look for a better value deal with another bank. Fantastic customer service!

People are always quick to jump on their bank as soon as they make the slightest mistake and quite rightly so - after all, we are trusting them with our hard earned cash. When things go as they should, though, we tend to keep quiet about it. That's why I want to share my experience of banking with Natwest with you. I've used quite a few banks over the years and Natwest trumps the lot in terms of customer service. Problems and queries are dealt with quickly, be it online or in the branch. They also keep later opening hours, including Saturdays and have a range of fee-free extras such as Overdraft Control (which basically stops you from being charged if a Direct Deit is rejected) and a cash back scheme where you can earn on certain purchases made with your Natwest debit card. Overall, I'd give them 9 out of 10. They only lose a point due to the branch nearest to my house closing. Fortunately, the next branch is right by my workplace so I haven't been too inconvenienced but I'm sure people who are less mobile for whatever reason have been put at a disadvantage.
