Misleading covid cover

1
I bought the Post Office travel insurance specifically because it said 'covid cover'. I don't travel until the end of JANUARY 2022, but due to the new variant have rung them today to verify my cover. I now learn that I am not covered for a new flight home if I catch covid abroad and have to self isolate. I believe I was mis-sold this policy because it said 'repatriation cover for covid' in the headline. I cannot check the detail as I was only sent a basic document. The call centre said it was page 89 of 150 page document! If I cancel and open a new policy they will not refund a penny of the £157 cost. Additionally, the customer service staff were very offhand, abrupt, unhelpful and could not have cared less. I am very angry that this type of scam can exist in plain sight.... especially under the name of a supposedly reputable company. I will have to bear the cost and take out a new insurance with a different company. DO NOT USE POST OFFICE INSURANCE. Reviewed on: 13th December 2021

Do Not Use PO Travel Insurance. A disgrace!!!

1
We purchased a Premium policy thinking it was underwritten by the Post Office. Its not, its with The Collison group and Great Lakes. We had to cut short our trip to India due to C19 last March. We could not contact anyone to help with advice about our policy and what we were covered for if we returned early. We made the decision to try and return early as there was no certainty about flights in the future. Great Lakes will not pay us for any unrecoverables and will not give me policy wording for when i took out policy. We were being thrown out of our hotel and had to make quick decisions with no support for Great lakes. We saved them a lot of money by coming home early. Will never use the Post Office again. Terrible - read the small print

1
I would never use this product again, I have tried to claim for missing items to no avail. The list of reasons to not want to pay is unbelievable. I was told they would not pay as I did not read the T&C. The exemption was listed once on page 39 of a 52 page document. Awful service, will never use again Reviewed on: 19th November 2021

worst insurance company

1
I made a claim a month a go, it takes 2 weeks for them to reply to email and it seems they do not read the previous one.So far it looks like it will take at least a few months to finish the process. Reviewed on: 10th November 2021

Dont bother with Post Office Travel Insurance

They made it so difficult and complicated to make a claim, I gave up and just suffered the loss. Never again Reviewed on: 27th September 2021

No Stars.

I have not used my travel insurance this year and tried to claim a very small amount for a cancelled holiday as I had waived the excess. The number of different staff involved, the numerous e.mails and the claim refused. Cost me but certainly cost them more with time and I’ve now renewed my travel insurance with a different company. Absolute rubbish. Reviewed on: 19th March 2021

What a diabolical shambles

1
OMG What a diabolical company - I have had to resort to getting the financial ombudsman involved! I opened a Post Office Savings Account back in January 2021 and have been depositing into the account since opening. The last deposit was made 09/03/21 I have had no problems depositing money into the account, however when I tried to withdraw I was unable to do so. I called their helpline and was told that a block has been put on my account and that I needed to speak to their security team. I was placed on hold for 45 minutes and had to get back to work. I called again the next day and asked "if my account is blocked why have you been accepting my deposits"? The customer service adviser couldnt answer this and placed me on hold whilst waiting to speak to the Security team. Again I was placed on hold for over an hour. I called again today and told the customer services that I wish to close my account immediately and have my balance transfered to my linked account (which they have taken direct debits from). I was told they couldnt do this and again I was placed on hold for just over 20 minutes then to be told the security department is now closed. I do not recommend using the Post Office Money at all. Power of Attorney - BE AWARE

1
Be aware if you have power of attorney in place and you open an account with Post Office. I found one of my Dad's bank statements from about 18 months ago and wasn't sure if it was still active, as my dad lost mental capacity I couldn't ask him. I called Post Office and stated I've got Power of Attorney in place and that I didn't, at this stage. want any sensitive information about the account other than whether it was still active. Before they could even answer that question (bearing in mind the answer could be NO) I need to find and locate their Power of Attorney forms (there aren't any, just application forms for new accounts with POA in place) I'd need to post them the original POA forms, my photo ID, a recent utility bill and do a credit check - AND AFTER *ALL* THIS PAINSTAKING PROCESS, THE ANSWER COULD STILL BE "NO, THIS ISN'T AN ACTIVE ACCOUNT" This is the only company that wasn't willing to give me a simple answer, and makes you jump through hoops. This makes an incredibly stressful period in someone's life even more difficult. Reviewed on: 11th March 2021

Bought Annual multi Trip Travel Insurance in February 2020. Lockdown then happened in March therefore unable to travel for the whole year due to government guidelines & restrictions. So travel insurance was useless ...... they refused to refund, give credit or offer vouchers. Complete waste of money !! Once lockdown happened they could have at least contacted their customers and informed them of the implications & given them some options - but no, they kept quiet. Typical of Insurance Companies - happy to take your money but don't like to pay out. Wouldn't recommend them & will never use them again. Reviewed on: 7th February 2021

Shocking service ! No stars if I had the option

1
I am an annual renewal customer, so when we booked a villa that was outside our policy, I rang them to ask about an early renewal. They said this couldn't be done and just to renew 28 days before the policy was due to end; they assured me our holiday would be covered (honoured was the word they used! So when I did ring to renew they said that this was no longer the case, but they renewed me anyway, offered me a discount (to apologise) and persuaded me to also pay for 'no excess'. When I was unable to access the villa due to my flights having been cancelled, The Post office have refused to pay out. Two other members of my party have been reimbursed by their insurance companies in exactly the same situation. I will never again use or recommend this company - shame on them, their service is a disgrace. Look elsewhere. Reviewed on: 18th November 2020
