Review of the Post Office, Travel Insurance:

Do not use "Post Office" travel insurance take a net...

1
Do not use "Post Office" travel insurance take a nettle with you at least when you touch it you will know you have been stung. Mere criminals maskarading as legitimate traders. We all know insurance is a con in most cases, not worth the paper it's written on but never thought such a recognised brand could act so low. Living in a rural area with no public transport or contactable taxi service, our own vehicle our lifeline about to set out 04:15 for flight 07:15 discovering our battery was flat and rushed around for an alternative, try that in a rural area 5am. Long story short missed my flight and paid a rescue fee to Easyjet next available flight, 3 days later obviously missing that period of my holiday also. Having this misfortune remembering my Post Office insurance I saw a very dim light at the end of the tunnel, which was soon extinguished when I reached out to "Post Office" claims call handlers. Twice relaying my predicament they hung up, all stuck in some sweat shop in India, had loose understanding of the English language and even less in the use of the language. Then questioned like a criminal as if I intensionally missed my flight, loosing three days of my holiday!!. Luckily I've had the misfortune of coming across such charlatans before and well versed in the services of the Financial Ombudsman, which I can assure the Post Office is where they are going to be overhauled. terrible service

1
Tried to contact the post office insurance team for over an hour over the phone. The team hung up on me twice before I could get through. I went into the branch to seek support, however they said this needed to be done over the phone. Although they kindly offered me their phone, once I managed to get through to a member of staff, they hung up on me when I asked them to repeat themselves as I couldn't quite understand what they we're saying. Terrible service. I could not speak to someone in the team and consequently had to use another provider. Reviewed on: 6th April 2022

Zero response to claim

Initiated a claim over 2 months ago while on holiday. Was passed around departments to submit thr claim. 6 weeks later no acknowledgment of the claim and numerous chaser emails have been ignored. Now raising a case with the financial ombudsman. AVOID!!! Reviewed on: 30th March 2022

Worse than dreadful

After buying a week's cover I registered for an online account. After my first visit I couldn't get back in no matter how many times I changed my password. During the holiday I had to make a claim for a delayed ferry, causing me to pay out for an extra night in the hotel. They feature travel delay insurance as part of their advertising. It took them three weeks to come back to me and tell me that they wouldn't pay out and to check page 10 of their online document. Because I couldn't log in I phoned 'Customer Service' and waited on the line for 25 minutes. To their credit they reset my account while I was on the phone, but when I found their four page document and asked where the ten page online policy document was they hung up. Do not buy insurance from them.

Impossible to find out where to send claim form off to. Sent claim form after 2 weeks received a email saying they only deal with policies beginning TE, mine starts with TE. Obviously a con Reviewed on: 14th March 2022

Rubbish cover, rubbish service ,

I have been buying the Post Office insurance consistently and never needed it until recently when our flights were cancelled we were left stranded and after an emergency overnight stay , travel to a different airport and 2 one way flights i was expecting to be able to speak to someone at The Post Office and/or be pretty well covered for the £1500 of extra unforseen cost . Well I couldn't and I wasn't . Still trying to speak to The Post Office Itravel Insurace people to get some clarity/an explanation as to why we have only been refunded £40 !!?? . Lesson learnt . I would avoid these guys if you actually ever want to claim for anything . Reviewed on: 7th March 2022

worst travel insurer i have come across

1
I put in a claim in mid December 2021 and was asked for more information , including a Doctor's letter , which i supplied . In January 2022 i got an email saying that i would get a response within 5 to 10 days but since then silence. Also it appears that more than 1 claims manager has been handling my claim as there was different names in the early correspondence. However , as i said , silence from then . When you ring for an update you are on hold for ages plus when you get through you are simply told that someone is handling the claim . I know there are delays because of covoid but it is now March and going on for 3 months since i submitted the claim. I won't ever use Post Office Travel Insurance again . Reviewed on: 4th March 2022

Do not use

With these people, it's all about not paying. Beware of the small print. They will twist it in their favour. Do not use!! Reviewed on: 24th February 2022

They will do everything to avoid paying out

2 and half months after putting in a straightforward claim I have submitted the same documents 3 times - and no progress Reviewed on: 18th February 2022

Impossible to make a claim

They insist on the claim being posted with original receipts etc. Three weeks later I've chased them and they say they have not received the claim. They ask me to call them again in a week and if it has still not arrived I have to start again. Difficult as I no longer have the original receipts. I wish I'd sent it by recorded delivery.
