I would give them a ZERO if I can. 2024 New Years Eve I was returning back from Scotland to Leicester and the weather was pretty bad, heavy winds and rain 100%. My car started showing warning signs on the dash and the car started slowing down, drove the car until I got to the nearest services at Kendal Southbound which was at around 4.30pm. Took the RAC cover out and called them out for an emergency breakdown. Charged me £199 for the callout. Assuming either they fix the car or take us home. Anyway had no choice as I had young kids with me so I paid it as had to get back home. The RAC Patrol came around 6.45pm and had a look at the car and (THOUGHT) that the turbo has gone. Nothing much was done and no other options available other than towing the car to the nearest garage within the 10 mile radius or quoted me £1500 TO GET THE CAR & PASSENGERS TOWED . Now can someone tell me which garage would be opened at this time on New Yrs Eve to check the car and who in the right fraame of mind would pay £1500 to get the car towed? With not much on the table the guy left. Managed to arrange a breakdown for £500 to get us and the car towed to my home address, which we got home at 5am on New Years Day. All in all £800 went in the bin and no service provided. WHAT A GREAT START TO 2025!!! A COMPLETE WASTE AND A SCAM BUSINESS. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THEM. ABSOLUTELY USELESS. THEY ARE JUST MAKING MONEY, NO EXPERIENCE OF BREAKDOWN AND NO EMPATHY AT ALL. MY 6 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER FELL ILL BECAUSE OF THEIR POOR SERVICE. Reviewed on: 4th January 2025

I cancelled my policy a week before it was due to be renewed and they still took the money from my account, When i complained they said the agent i delt with did not cancel the policy and it would be two weeks before I would get a refund. this is a blatant disrespect for customers and what ever happened to the 14 day cooling off period (contract law) Reviewed on: 25th November 2023

I have been waiting patiently for two days since the breakdown of our van only to be told when i called richfords motors this evening to chase the pick up like i have done for two days and two nights, that’s when I was told the vehicle cannot be seen. She said that i should ring the police because the road has double yellow lines. i said i have this vehicle tracked and it has not moved. she won’t let me speak so i screamed out of frustration. she still won’t let me speak (i don't know how these people are making their way into such positions where they are trusted to deal with frustrated human beings.) I tried to explain to this lady to speak to the driver to look around the petrol station (at this point i gathered the vehicle was within the petrol station compound but by the road and very visible) instead of listening she allowed the driver drove away wasting everyone’s time. Mind you, i called them before finding out about this. No one cared to contact me to say they could not find the vehicle. This, i am not sure happed, i don’t think anyone went to pick up this vehicle. They told me i must speak to RAC to rebook the pickup. However, when i called the first time and spoke to a lady she asked me to hold on while she speak with the richfords motors. She came back with some story that the vehicle is with the police even though i have explained that the vehicle is still there and i had called the petrol station to confirm. The lady at the petrol station even told me that they need the van moving asap because they have a delivery in the morning and the van is in the way. That lady at RAC asked me to hold on the second time and then hung up on me. I rang richfords again and was told there is nothing they could do, that i must ring RAC again. I have been treated like i am insane. i feel insulted and very stressed. I have been understanding with the whole scenario because i understand the situation with the flood but this treatment from you and your contractor left me shocked and very disappointed. I have been with you guys for over 8 years now and this treatment goes to show me the kind of service you provide. I rang the second time and this time a gentleman called Mohamed picked up and was nice. He too was poisoned with the made-up and insane story of the van being towed by the police. not sure who hired this person in this richfords office. people saying things without fact. obviously says their level of education. The RAC do not cover you if you break down on a dual garage way

Broke down on a dual carriageway, and like several other people here were told it was too dangerous for the RAC to come and get me. They left myself and my family stranded by the side of the road and even refused to send anyone when a highways officer had secured the area and diverted the traffic. Reviewed on: 9th October 2023

RAC HAVE STOLE MY CAR AND THEY WONT TELL ME WHERE IT IS

Before considering employing the services of RAC, I implore you to take a moment to read about my recent ordeal, which has been nothing short of a nightmare. On 20th September 2023, RAC took possession of my vehicle (Registration: WR14 EHJ) and what followed was a bewildering and highly distressing chain of events marked by misinformation, lack of communication, and a terrifying period where my car was essentially lost by the company. Despite being assured by RAC that my vehicle was safely transported to Nissan Garage for a scheduled appointment on the 4th of October, I was informed by the garage that it was never delivered. From that point onwards, the situation spiraled into a chaotic series of events with RAC representatives repeatedly providing conflicting information and outright false assurances. Promised callbacks were not honoured (despite 12 separate calls from my end on the 5th of October), and after being informed that a complaint case was raised, further inquiry exposed that this, too, was a false statement. Now, not only is my vehicle still missing, but my numerous attempts to obtain straightforward answers and resolve the issue have been constantly met with disregard and unfulfilled promises. RAC’s failure to manage this situation effectively and their apparent disinterest in resolving it promptly has caused not just inconvenience but genuine distress. Given the gravity of the situation, where a vehicle is unaccounted for and mismanaged, I find myself compelled to escalate matters further, and I am left questioning the reliability and credibility of RAC. If you're seeking a service that values your property, time, and peace of mind, I must warn you to think twice before opting for RAC, unless you're prepared for a potential rollercoaster of stress and frustration, as I have experienced. The lack of accountability, effective communication, and tangible solutions from RAC has been astounding and certainly not in a positive light. In a situation where we depend on a service to handle our properties with care, transparency, and efficiency, RAC has drastically failed to deliver on all fronts in my experience.
