Insurance delays

After suffering a leak in my home I had to contact Sainsburys insurance 3 times - each time getting a different set of instructions of what to do next. After THREE MONTHS the adjuster came out and told me it was straight forward and that he was going to write up his estimate. Soon after I get an email saying that they are transferring my claim to an investigative adjuster - when asked why, I was told it was because of my Post code which seemingly has a higher number of claims that normal. It is now 8 months since I submitted the claim and the claim is no where near complete. the adjuster has also said that he will only pay for works completed and invoiced which means I am going to have to pay out of pocket and claim the money back. Appalling customer service-do not use them!

I paid monthly for my home insurance & when it was up for renewal I decided to pay it all in one go & did so over the phone, I then cancelled my monthly direct debit with them & went on holiday for 2 weeks. imagine my shock on returning to see 2 letters from them stating that they had cancelled my insurance as I still had 1 months outstanding payment on my DD-so I had been on holiday & my home wasn't even insured! I called them & they were awful, blaming me saying it was my fault etc then they informed me they would return my premium I Had just paid minus £44 for "admin", I kid you not! I argued with them & got nowhere so I sent a letter to their head office plus several emails, nothing, their customer service is absolutely appalling! I dread to think what would have happened had I needed to make a claim with them as they really don't care about their customers, I would never use them again, they are the worse in the business Reviewed on: 13th January 2024

Took yearly and monthly premium

They issued 2 x policies, one monthly and one yearly, when I discovered this I was told it would take 2 x months to get my money back, will not be renewing with them. Reviewed on: 23rd October 2023

Payment method failed and left uninsured

So their renewal offer said they would try to collect payment 5 days before renewal but 19 hrs it’s expiry (19:27 in the evening) they email to say that the payment failed. I called the next morning to be advised that since the renewal did not take place the policy has been cancelled and the time period, now barely 36hrs, means that the policy cannot even be reinstated. I was then advised to obtain a new quote. Of course everyone knows trying to shop around for insurance at the last minute it’s super expensive and so SainsburyBank Insurance just cost me a load of stress and worry for being uninsured and the extra to purchase some last minute insurance. No Insurance Cover While Selling Rental Property!

Sainsburys cancelled my landlord insurance policy after a rental property was vacant for 60 days. I have been a loyal customer for more than 12 years. Thanks a bunch Sainsburys. Reviewed on: 16th October 2023

Shockingly bad

Expect to spend weeks on the phone trying to resolve simple issues with complaints shelved for months. Calls with agent after agent repeating yourself, conflicting answers, underwriters that appear to have no contact details etc. Avoid like the plague. Reviewed on: 5th October 2023

Avoid at all cost - terrible

Flood in kitchen. Had emergency cover but after 6 hours told to get own plumber - now due to delay early hours of morning. Submitted claim for extensive water damage, but three weeks later no further forward and unable to use kitchen Reviewed on: 10th September 2023

The best support ever!

Through a clumsy mistake I managed to set fire to my garden shed, which spread to the garden fence, the gable end of my garage and my neighbours summer house. Our claim was dealt with in a sympathetic manner incredibly quickly. Having agreed a settlement figure my wife realised she had missed the VAT. I said to her, well the claim is settled you won't get that, but Sainsburys added the VAT to the claim and paid us the VAT element within a couple of days.
