Review of the Santander, Business Current Account:

Locked out of account, with no explanation

Both my husband and I were locked out of accounts. First my business accounts, then 2 weeks later our joint accounts. Bounced between service teams who knew nothing. The CEO's executive team did not even respond in the promised time frame and no one knew whey there was a lock. My husband had to provide rafts of business statements for a personal account (each one costing, as it needed his accountant to provide). Service was beyond appalling. Reviewed on: 5th October 2024

Pathetic

Bank charges too high, and when challenged they said it was impossible to change. The service for business was appalling, and there was no congruent access to a person to discuss when I went into the local branch. I have changed the bank now, and I have complained to the banking ombudsman, results are yet to be revealed. I was forced to close the account when I said I was complaining, Good riddance to a bad bank. Reviewed on: 5th January 2020

Dont waste your time even with the free 12months banking

Santander business banking has to be the worst bank to deal. I have a business in colwyn bay. I use the Santander bank in colwyn bay. The reason I signed up to be truely honest is the free banking period, it sounded get and easy but....... please don't waste your time, you cant use the counter service if your a business account yes that's right you have to pay a set monthly fee and 50p of every £100 after a certain amount. So after you pay the fees you dont get the privilege of using the in store desk, instead they tell you to use the cash machine if you need anything and to top in off the cash machines in Santander banks are awful, if you try put money into the machine please give yourself 20minutes of messing around feeding your notes into the machine that it keeps spitting out, oh and dont expect the staff to help you if these more than 2 people in the bank as theres only 2 counters 1 of which is usually busy with a member of staff doing something more important so naturally a queue starts forming. I usually time myself when I go in just to try make myself laugh instead of getting pis*** off at how much of a joke it is in there. The greatest thing is that even if nobody is in the bank they still wont help you as your a paying business account holder... sorry I keep saying that but it just amazes me that you can pay for an account and not get the customer service as you would if you just had a regular best account. If the cash machines was a little better the bank may just get a 2 star from me but its shocking. Most businesses have to out large amounts of cash in but when it only accepts 50 notes at a time so 500 quid your there for some time if your putting £3000 in and that's if you catch the machine on a good day. Oh but having said that most the staff there are quick to tell you that instead of putting a large amount in at once why not put 500 in every couple of days.... I also have another business which I run through natwest which are amazing. The machines are great and if your putting large money in then you simply put your money in a bag post it through a hole and boom just like magic it's in, but the best bit is that you can simply go to the desk and speak to a friendly staff member to deal with any problems. Moral of the story is I HATE Santander do not use it unless you want to pull all your hair out and die of old age waiting. Reviewed on: 28th March 2019

Beyond ridiculous

So I wanted to open a business bank account at Santander and they asked me to provide my personal account bank statement as a confirmation of my address. And business department of Santander didn't accept a personal bank account statement from Santander, because 'it is not a legitimate proof of address'! Is this a f***ing joke!!?? Next day I went to Lloyds and opened a business bank account with no issues there. Customer service is just beyond terrible at Santander, I'm switching to Lloyds as soon as I can. Absolute joke

3 months still no credit cards told by the snotty little cow in the Kidderminster branch with too much make up to go to the post office to pay my cheques in because there machine is broke useless banking app shocking service spend all there efforts referring you to out sourced company’s to try and build your buisness when they are failing on every single part of what you need from a high street bank to build for the future I’m absolutely fuming these lot are a joke you have been warned ade west mids Reviewed on: 13th February 2019

Switch went wrong and nobody can help

wont allow me to access it and are returning all my direct debits and standing orders. I have made a complaint via the complaints department as nobody in customer services was able to help, but they can't either, my caseworker tells me the person he needs to speak to isnt replying to his emails or calls. Basic but does the job

A simple no frills account. There is very little support and the extent of the account is quite basic but for me it does the job with no problems. I have used other online business banking accounts and this one is much easier to use. Reviewed on: 13th January 2019

Just use another bank.

This is honestly the worst bank I've ever dealt with, I wouldn't usually leave a review but if I can stop someone from signing up I've a least saved the the hassle for someone else. Online banking for bussiness accounts is awful, in 6 months I've been locked out for the 4th time due 2 factor authorisation, why can't you have finger print access like every other bank? It's not 2004. Now I have wait for the password in the post again. Secondly customer services just takes ages. 20minutes on the phone before you can talk to anyone. I look forward to leaving I won't be paying for the services of you bussiness account. You should be paying me to use this rubbish. Reviewed on: 30th November 2018
