Local Branch in Wanstead Now Closed

Had a letter saying that my local branch in Wanstead was closing and that my nearest branch would now be in Leytonstone, a bus ride away. I was also informed that my new branch manager was a Mr Patel, no surprise there... As a pensioner with limited mobility it is disgraceful that I am now expected to travel much further, to a somewhat questionable area that is rife with criminal activity and muggings, particularly on the elderly. I will certainly not be visiting Mr Patel any time soon. Reviewed on: 11th February 2022

Absolute worst experience

We have two business bank accounts with Santander, for companies in the same group. We tried to open a third account, for a new company we acquired. It has been 13 weeks to date, and not one person in the team is able to tell us why it is taking so long. What's more, they have now asked us to recertify our other two accounts as well! The communication is shockingly bad. *Turnover >£5m. Reviewed on: 19th November 2021

ABYSMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE

2 hours on hold, then nothing gets done. Account blocked for no reason at all. Submitted all required information, still blocked. Just use one of the new fintechs, the old model of banking is broken. Reviewed on: 12th August 2021

Fine for our needs, but useless phone app

We have had no more bad experiences in our many years of business banking than with the other banks we’ve used in the past. BUT the main point of this review is to say that their iPhone app is virtually useless other than for checking your transactions. You can’t pay anyone you haven’t paid before, and you can’t even search for the payees that have paid before! Reviewed on: 10th July 2021

Not ready for business banking

I have the following business accounts: Starling, Tide, Natwest and Santander. To say that Santander is terrible would be an understatement. As a matter of fact, the other 3 providers in the list above should be assessed completely separately. The interface of Santander Business Accounts (browser or app) is archaic. The reliability is the worst I have ever seen; 1 out of every 4 / 5 transactions times out or is not processed due to 'technical reasons'. The website is regularly completely glitching out. I honestly cannot emphasise enough to avoid business banking with Santander. The biggest irony being that they're the only business banking provider from the list above which CHARGES £7.50 as a flat fee for its services. Reviewed on: 7th July 2021

Security locks me out of my account at least once a month

I've been with Santander for about 7 years. Until the last year they were very good. However, over the last few months, their security system locks me out of the account whenever I come to run the payroll. The customer then needs to call up (usually 30 - 45 mins) and regain access. This can happen multiple times a day, meaning you need to set aside a full day to run the payroll. Very disappointing. Reviewed on: 6th July 2021

avoid completely

There are no words to describe what a scam Santander is. They out of the blue closed our business account without explaining why and then they are holding to our money and won't write a cheque unless it is in business name. but we only have one business account and opening a new one has been really challenging given the current circumstances. it has been 3 months and the business has gone bankrupt. so even 1 star is too much for them really. Useless

Spent 20 minutes on phone waiting to get through to helpline. Unable to access online account through no fault of my own. When eventually call answered, no use at all. So, locked out of my account. Useless . Avoid. Reviewed on: 25th August 2020

Is Santander Business Banking a COVID19 hot spot?

I've had my business banking with Santander for over 15 years. I applied for a CBILS loan. I received a rejection letter from head of business banking Susan Davies on grounds of my Experian score and affordability. I have just checked my score and it is 999 out of 999. My last tax returns also shows a personal income of £56,000. Are these people infected with the Covid19, on drugs or just do not want to lend to small businesses? Reviewed on: 12th June 2020
