Dare to hope,!

I have been very ill with cancer. During my treatments I took my eye off the ball as the saying goes. Was too ill to deal with post and many many calls from people demanding money. I was becoming paranoid about the phone,the postman. Well debts don’t go away I didn’t know where or who to turn to, my life was such a mess, I was even contemplating ending it all. A friend came here and said why don’t we ring Stepchange the debt charity. I had nothing to lose but from that very first call, they made me feel like we can sort this out together and took me through every single step. Every person I spoke with was efficient,nothing was too much trouble, kind and compassionate. Made me feel like perhaps I could live a life. Am not the only person this happens to. Quite a bit of paperwork which I found daunting but even if I was stuck on silly questions I always got a real person to speak with. I can’t praise them high enough Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Non judgmental, helpful, free advice and guidance. I found myself in a situation where my circumstances were changing and I realised I needed to find a way to take control of my debts. I was struggling to keep up with alongside the cost of living increases. I contacted Step change who evaluated my situation, gave me options and their recommendation of the best way to proceed. I was given choice and advice. After that I was guided through the next steps, outlining my budget, payments to creditors and Step change handled the communication with the creditors. I’ve had minimal contact with the creditors, I’ve managed to stick to my payment plan and I’m a few months away from being debt free. As working professional I have really struggled with the stigma of my Debt situation and some life circumstances left me really struggling to financially cope. I used to think one more credit card or loan will be fine, I’ll pay it back, then before I knew it I was swamped BUT luckily found Step Change before things got unbearable to cope with. They Really Help You Gain Control Of Your Finances

They have really been vital to my being able to get some kind of grasp on my affairs. They are really easy to talk to, and kind, and getting in touch with them was the best financial decision I’ve made. They were able to set up very affordable plans, which were based on reality, and not the kind of ‘wishful thinking’ that it can be easy to succumb to.. Their approach helps to remove the stigma and shame, and you begin to feel more in control. It’s a journey for sure, but hooking up with these guys, will kickstart your recovery process! My debts sorted to one easy monthly payment.

I was very stressed because of the debt I had with credit cards. The advice I was given and the understanding and knowledgeable people I spoke to at Stepchange put me at ease and reduced my worries.
