Contacting Step change has changed my life for the better. My finances were a mess and when I spoke with someone at step change they helped me to navigate the difficulties by making me feel at ease. I was burying my head in the sand, but I couldn’t avoid it anymore. Now things are manageable and clear. StepChange literally helped me when I felt stuck and ashamed about debt. The advisor was kind, no judgment, just practical help. They walked me through a Debt Management Plan that fit what I could actually afford. The whole process was free, clear, and confidential. If you’re dreading making the call, just do it. Stepchange are great as a company but unfortunately it takes ages waiting to talk to someone on the phone and when you are in a bad place because of debt and other things this can be avery big thing. Apart from that they are great. Reviewed on: 3rd June 2026

I first had to make the call after Covid and the advisors who I dealt with were so kind calm and non judgmental. They listened and provided a solution for me which I knew was gonna be a big change for me but the best one in the long run. They were very quick and they yearly budget reviews really do help as they appreciate life changes circumstances change and they never ever judge or make you give more than you can comfortably afford Reviewed on: 3rd June 2026

Don’t bury your head in the sand!

My personal circumstances changed beyond belief and beyond my control. From having everything to nothing. From having a fantastic credit file to it being destroyed practically. I was at rock bottom. Maxed out my credit cards to survive etc etc. more going out then was coming in. But I fought to keep going and tried to pay my monthly commitments. But it became impossible. My only option? Suicide. Yes suicide. That would end all this. I was rock bottom. Then one day I called StepChange. I broke down. Someone listened to me and understood what I was going through. I felt ashamed. Ashamed of what had happened to me - but also ashamed of thinking my only option was to die! They helped me sooo much. Looked at my situation and came up with a payment solution I could afford. Yes it’ll take years to pay back but at least they’re getting something - but more importantly life has more hope now. if you’re in a similar situation don’t be ashamed to seek help! It works! They help! don’t put it off - or bury your head in the sand! Trust me, there’s a solution built for you and around you! Thank you StepChange Reviewed on: 2nd June 2026
