Review of the Swinton Insurance, Car insurance:

Friendly & helpful

After many years of staying with the same company, “the post office”I decided to switch, I spoke with an extremely polite and helpful lady, as well as saving money, I was impressed with the experience, after all “good manners are free”! Later that week after telling the post office why I was cancelling, I received a renewal quote from them in the post, it had gone up! Reviewed on: 11th September 2018

Are Swinton really scammers?

1
I filled in a request for quote online on a third party website to insure a work van for my own pest control firm. Swinton's sales person phoned me the next day among a flood of phone calls from their competitors. I let myself talked me into taking a policy with them. However all that Swinton was interested in was to receive payments. Swinton has never sent us a cover note, insurance schedule or terms and conditions of business with them. Swinton ommited to tell me they were going to use underwriters Ageas before signing a credit agreement. Later Swinton failed to deliver the service I have paid for and I had no other option but to cancel further payments to the scammers. Reviewed on: 15th June 2016

Agresive, unhelpful customer service

1
After looking for car insurance on comparison sites I decided to check out Swinton. The sales staff on the phone were helpful (or so I thorght at the time), and found me a good deal on my L200. Everything was fine, direct debt set up, no worrys. After the 2nd payment was taken I was taken I recieved a letter from Swinton saying my insurance had been canceled. The following month thay took out double the usual direct debit payment plus a "Cancelation fee". Puzzeled, I phoned customer service and asked 1. why had thay canceled, 2. why had thay taken double payment, 3. why I had to pay cancelation fee when thay canceled the policy. The custumer service staff was abusive saying it was my fault thay had to cancel the policy as an L200 was classed as a van. Since that was the same vehicle I insured I could not see the problem. Every month since I recieve another bill for unpaid account, even though the policy was canceled 6 months ago. Reviewed on: 8th September 2015

Good phone quote

I got a great phone quote from the Swinton so decided to choose them for my car insurance. Friendly and informative on the phone. Reviewed on: 13th June 2015

Overpriced and bad customer service - online is cheaper.

2
I worked for Swinton Insurance and i took my first car insurance out with them before I worked there and i ended up paying 160 a month for my 0.8 ltr car when i was 18. Overpriced and the sales teams at the call centres are very aggressive in their sales techniques. Although Swinton may be best for home insurance or other insurances such as personal accident or breakdown insurance. Car insurance is best left to the online comparison professionals.
