Review of the Swinton Insurance, Car Insurance:

If I could give them ZERO I would

I have used Swinton on and off for the past 25 years so was happy to take car insurance with them in November 2023. In July 2024 we moved house and as you do started notifying change of address. So I dutifully did with Swinton. That's when the nightmare began. Spoke to Toby and explained I needed to change the address only on my motor policy. So he asked all the relevant questions and said he needed to submit it to the underwriters to see if there would be a increase in the premium. He came back and mumbled something about a rejection code as the area was unacceptable. I asked him what he meant by that and he couldn't answer. Now the area I moved to has high end value houses in a semi rural location, certainly not a crime hotspot! He put me on to Lindi who just kept stating the area was unacceptable but I can cancel this policy and they would put me with a new company. Why, I asked? Please tell me why this area is unacceptable? She just kept saying the insurance company stated it was not an acceptable area. I asked her to verify who the insurance company was. AGEAS came the reply. I was stunned. We have a second car, insured by my wife, and she successfully changed the address the day before with no additional premium. It is insured through AGEAS!! Her reply was genuinely incoherent by which time my wife had entered the room curious why I was on the phone so long and started listening to the what was happening. I asked to speak to a supervisor for an explanation. I got Karen. I explained what had happened and wanted an explanation why two people living at the same address received such polar opposite responses. Again she appeared not to understand and stuck to the script of it being an unacceptable area. I recall saying regardless that my wife lives in the same house and that AGEAS accepted she is in an acceptable area (no additional premium) but Swinton say it's not. All she did was keep offering me a new policy with a different company or a cancellation of the policy. I asked for quotes for a new policy with a different insurance company, however her eventual reply was that none would insure me. As my wife was simultaneously obtaining quotations from a comparison website this was obviously another blatant lie. I believe this is the procedure when a customer won't change to another company to build Swinton's revenue stream. They get booted. Needless to say the policy with Swinton is now cancelled. I urge everyone to avoid this company at all costs. I dread to think what may have happened if I had ever had to make a claim through Swinton. Reviewed on: 5th July 2024

Cancelled my insurance

Went to them as my Churchill insurance went up too much as we have two cars with them.Thy cancelled my insurance because they went digging and found in 2018 we didn't disclose my car keys went missing and I reported it.These Muppets said I didn't disclose this information even though we hadn't a clue this is a non claim,if it was a big deal why didn't Churchill red flag it after 3 years Reviewed on: 6th March 2023

Appalling service

Following an accident my motorbike was sent by yourselves for repair/assessment and was subsequently written of by 4th dimension, my policy details are attached along with the the BER notification from your repairers. I have be waiting over 4 weeks for a refund payment but have not received it and have had no update regarding my case. I have contacted Swinton claims and Ageas (who I believe are the underwriters and are supposedly dealing with my claim) no one is responding to my calls or emails and no one is taking any responsibility for dealing with my requests for an update. Being without my only method of transport is having a detrimental effect on my life and is impairing my ability to work. The lack of communication from yourselves is absolutely disgraceful 'customer service'. I took out my insurance policy with yourselves believing you to be a reputable company but your actions with my claim has led me to feel you are money grabbing, dishonest and unreliable. I will be making sure none of my family and friends ever insure anything through yourselves. I require an answer regarding date, amount and method of the write off payment by 2pm on Wednesday 18th January or I will be seeking legal advice. Reviewed on: 17th January 2023

SCAM money out of you, no idea what they are doing!

Got new insurance with them, they sent a letter saying it was cancelled, when I called its because a previous case was open even though its settled, (took multiple calls for them to realise this is why) anyway finally paid extra to cover it, including an extra fee for paperowrk which is fine, only to have an email this morning to say our insurance has been cancelled, we were refunded MINUS another free and MINUS the money Ipaid previously on top of the origional. So I am now £70 down and have to fork out for another insurance company! Complete waste of money and time, the customer service lady has NO idea what she is doing, very unprofessional, useless and scammers! Reviewed on: 23rd August 2022

Horrible service

Never sign up again! My car was hit in a carpark, and I reported claim on the day. Now it's been almost a week, it is still unsettled yet. My car has not being picked up to repair, neither a replacement car provided. I have been spent hours every day to chase up, and everytime I was told different stories. First I was told my have no liability, will get my car repaired and replacement car in next day, which didn't happen of course. Then I was told there is no third party for them to claim to, so they are putting my claim as "Approved Repair", which mean I need to pay the excess myself. I accepted it. but it didn't happen either. Now I was told that I need to claim under my own policy, which means I am losing my NCD. The worst thing is every time I call, I am redirect among different companies. and I need to chase up each companies myself, to name a list the companies I have to call on a daily basis. Swinton (My insurance company) Kinderton ( My insurance handler) MarketStudy (My insurance underwriter) Vizion or something sounds like that ( orginizer for car repiaring) Auxillies ( Car rental) MarketStudy was the worst among them, put into the queue for literaly hours. I have even more company names i have dealt with. This is ridiculous and stressfull for a whole week. A strong advice... LEAVE ! Reviewed on: 28th June 2022

cashback offer car insurence

Putting offers on cashback sites to get you to buy insurance then when it's due refusing in the hope you forgot and give you nothing, took out car insurance paid in full with the offer through top cashback of 42 pounds, refused it months later con and false advertising and taking people's money by deceit, in the process of sending screenshot off top cashback of there refusal to Ombudsman and trading standards as they have probably done this to hundreds of customers, and top cashback takes you to the offer you can't make a mistake before they say that as an excuse, probably owe thousands to a lot of people. And please ignore their trained customer service response of never heard of you, there are rules, please contact us (which I have) we are sorry customers first, and whatever else. I have now again contacted them failed for weeks to deal with it sent a letter to me saying we are investigating will be in touch after weeks of waiting. Had another letter 2 months later saying there investigating but as time is up I can contact financial Ombudsman which I will now do, as they are still investigating, how can they need to investigate there own offer from themselves for 3 month its there own offer they can see it, and second how do they need time to see there offer on top cash back they out it there just contact top cash and look at there own system, third its wrote in black and white on top cash back account that they refused to pay it, there's nothing to investigate its all there to see, and even though the evidence is there they have it they still refuse to pay up and even put me through having to contact Ombudsman by there asking in the hope i dont, an investigation into a offer that's own and that in wrote in black and white showing there refusal on a respected company site top cash where swinton put the offer just contact them investigation over, if they can't deal with this thats there own doing how the gods name do you go on with something serious, so I'll say once again to anyone using offers or cashback sites thinking of taking offers with these as it comes up cheaper in the long run DO NOT AS IT WONT, look for other insurance offer on the sites,probaly happend to hundreds, so now Ombudsman it is because they cannot find there own offers. avoid. They don't cover my area

They don't cover my area as if I live in a foreign country! Talk about integration and no child left in poverty well if people are given insurance quotes based on where they are born or live surely you are partly to blame for poverty and inequality in my area. If you think my area is not worthy of insurance then get bulldozers and bring down to ground! Reviewed on: 27th September 2021

The very best for car insurance

I've been unlucky enough and had to make 2 claims recently for my car that I recently purchased. First someone hit my car in a public car park and drove off and then again someone pulled out on me and I reversed to avoid the collision and into a bollard. Both times the claims process was quick and painless and they helped rectify the issue. Payout was quick and the customer service agents were helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.
