Becareful with Virgin Money

I recently began banking with Virgin Money and deposited $20,000 into a savings account while also opening a transaction account, all within the past month. However, when I attempted to transfer funds to a third-party account, I encountered an issue with the app that prompted me to call Virgin Money. After enduring a 32-minute wait on the phone, I spoke with a representative from an overseas call center who was rather impolite. She informed me that she couldn't assist me at that moment and requested that I call back in 30 minutes. Frustrated, I made another attempt several hours later, but I encountered the same problem and had to endure a 28-minute wait before someone answered my call. Throughout my experience, I've consistently faced difficulties when trying to make payments to individuals or pay bills, as the app repeatedly instructed me to call Virgin Money. Today, my account was unexpectedly blocked, and I was instructed to call Virgin Money again. This time, I endured a lengthy 59-minute wait before finally speaking to an operator named Sarah. To my dismay, she couldn't provide a clear explanation for why my account had been blocked and mentioned that the request had come from head office. I lodged a complaint with her, and in response, she sent me a list of requirements that would take three days to process. This situation has left me in a predicament as my funds are now inaccessible, preventing me from making transfers or payments to anyone. For your own peace of mind, I strongly advise against using Virgin Money. While I have an affinity for the Virgin brand, my experience with their banking services has been nothing short of frustrating. As a result, I am currently in the process of closing my account and transitioning to a different bank. Reviewed on: 2nd October 2023

My first bank in the UK

This is the first and only bank for me when I came to the UK. I rented a room as a long-term tenant and the other banks said that was not an acceptable address proof, which is ridiculous. All I need was just putting some cash into a current account. Reviewed on: 10th March 2023

Still waiting to hear from Bereavement Team

Over a year passes since my fathers death and I haven't heard from the bereavement team since after they sent back all documents. Cannot recommend this Mickey Mouse Bank at all. Reviewed on: 18th February 2023

getting no better

I was with Yorkshire Bank for over 40 years and then they just told me I was now a Virgin Money customer! I have found Virgin Money to be unhelpful and/or uninformed on every contact. There is no 'Customer Service' to speak of and I am looking to change banks soon. Reviewed on: 2nd February 2023

GOOD ACCOUNT WITH SOME BENEFITS

Avoid at all costs

Ignorant customer service, rude and arrogant! dissatisfied or disgruntled employees!. Avoid at all costs. I'm still waiting on my application being approved Been waiting for nearly 4 months now, I’ve contacted Virgin money so many times This is getting ridiculous. Liked Yorkshire bank but not virgin

Virgin money joke cant get through on phone however much i try account frozen

Saw good rates opened 2 x current accounts 2 x linked savers and a cash isa. Day one UNABL to get through on phone that continues to today used the phone app made a payment blocked and account account frozen along with mobile app under maintenance now trying to get all monies out and close accounts. Got through twice today 30 mins hold then cut off on both occasions given direct no to fraud dept and guess what on hold transferred then cut off great customer services.
