Big wheels keep on turning......you over

My suspension spring broke on the front of my car also causing the shock absorber to fail. So I phoned the AA when the incident first occurred and asked if I am fully covered, the response was words to the effect of "yes, most likely you are covered". The AA then had my car towed to a garage of their choice who informed me they could only source after market parts. So, I asked my insurance company if they would be happy with that. The Worst! Shop around!!

This was the worst experience I've ever had with a company! I chose them because they're old school and thought what could go wrong! Well everything went wrong, they put in my file that I had an accident claim, pushing up my rates, then when I called, had a customer service adviser, or the phone down on me! Then when I call back and check, they tell me, yes it's our fault we apologise, then hit me with a quote double the price of last year, and remove my no claims bonus?!? They ... Poor Attitude to Service

I transfered my car insurance to the AA this year thinking a good recognisable brand. Paid my annual premium upfront. To receive an email a week into my policy I need to pay 10% more as 4 years ago someone drove into me (not my fault in any way) but as a result the insurance company underwriters deem me to be a higher risk as someone drove into me. Policy not worth the paper it's written on!

Took out home insurance with the AA and paid extra for a Home Emergency Cover policy, which states words to the effect of "will identify and send a trader to undertake repair". Had a leak under our sink last week, duly called the AA and they duly sent a trader (A Lings), who simply said your valve is leaking so I've switched off your hot tap. Appalling customer service

If you want to have to chase your claim…hold on phones that ring out indefinitely and generally get the run around then this is the insurance for you. It has proved very difficult to process the simple claim of a key replacement - even though the work was carried out by an AA engineer. No responses from emails and phone helplines. Shocking service

DO NOT insure your car with this company. An entirely non fault claim and they have been so unhelpful, offered a shocking price for my car they decided to write off (which had minimal damage). No contact from them at all the only updates being when i called them. Returned the hire car despite the claim not being settled resulting in me losing my job as I had no way to get there and no money to replace my car. Horrendous. One star is far too much. Good until you need them....

I took out my AA car insurance policy with a courtesy car add on via a price comparison site. Decided to pay that little bit extra for the reputation and service I thought I would be getting. All good until I was involved in an accident and I was told that no courtesy car was available to me on my policy. I rechecked and on the summary there was a courtesy car included so I rang them...apparently on page 21 of a 56 page policy document it states that if your car is deemed a writ... e off no car is provided. Firstly this is concealed so well and not made clear, that you also have to purchase a hire car add on in addition to a courtesy car in the even of a write off. Secondly how can they accurately know this in the event of a phone call reporting a claim? In my mind until an engineer has inspected the vehicle it hasnt been deemed a right off. When I contacted them no decision had been made as the engineers hadnt even looked at it (nearly a fortnight later) So its a losing situation as you can't get paid any money for your car until a decision is made. They also told me I wasn't covered for personal possessions (mobile phone) and when I read through all the small print it said I was covered. I rang them again and suddenly I was covered, only after I quoted the policy page number. It took nearly 6 weeks to get a decision on my car valuation from start to finish and I still wasn't able to replace it with a like for like vehicle. Surely I should be able to get the market value of the vehicle written off in order to purchase a direct replacement? I waited another four weeks after I rejected the first offer they gave me. Only after 2 weeks did someone tell me that I could receive an interim payment for my car. This involved a ten working day wait as well from requesting this. I naively thought it would be that day or the following day at the latest. I struggle to comprehend how none of the other 3 staff members I spoke to disclosed this? None of the departments seem to communicate with each other or to me and it's impossible to speak to a manager or similar. They refer you to complaints who only contact you once with a phone call. If you miss that one that's it for a few weeks. I am a nurse so was with a patient when they called. Eventually I had a call from someone a good three weeks later but he was unable to provide any sort of resolution or reassurance surrounding my concerns. I ended up having to pay to hire a car to get to work, could only afford one week so this was unnecessarily stressful in an already stressful situation post accident. In summary, this has left me out of pocket by around £3000 in total and nothing I had accounted for in the current financial climate as an NHS worker and lone parent. Reviewed on: 18th February 2023

Appalling!

Appalling claims experience! Just changed to AA Insurance, unfortunately had to make a claim a month ago. Car still outside my house waiting for repairs to be authorised. Even allowing for the holiday period, this is an unreasonable delay. Different departments don't seem to communicate with each other; I've had to make numerous calls myself. Third party details that I submitted not 'loaded onto the system' for 2 weeks. Excessive wait times for calls to be answered. No response ... Reviewed on: 11th January 2023
