We had to cancel a holiday this year due to medical issues. We were told we get £1300 back and was only paid £600 in our bank without even knowing and not been given a chance to contest it.The service from start to finish was absolutely disgusting.DO NOT USE ADMIRAL TRAVEL INSURANCE. Awful travel insurance experience

1
Awful experience from start to finish. My son needed hospital treatment after collapsing on holiday. All paid for upfront by us and they will not confirm cover when speaking to them on the phone whilst all this is happening in a very stressful situation. Back in uk all documents submitted on portal. When you call to chase up they then request further documentation despite everything being sent. Receipts are not enough, bank statements on top of that. Still waiting for a decision 2 months down the line. Have had other travel insurance in the past and made one claim that was straightforward and clear. Admiral are the opposite. Still refusing to even confirm cover. Do not use admiral for travel insurance. Reviewed on: 28th September 2022

Paid £394 for one year multi trip, cruise and Europe for myself and wife. Approximately 2 weeks before holiday wife fell and fractured her shoulder making her unfit to travel. Put in claim, completed all relevant documentation, heard nothing. 3 days before we were due to travel for second holiday, informed they wanted £346 extra for update with regard arm injury. Funny how the new payment plus first payment equalled the amount they are expected to repay us. If not payed before our holiday, insurance will be cancelled Reviewed on: 17th September 2022

Travel nightmare

Was bitten by a spider in Thailand in May 22. My foot got infected and was rushed to hospital. Had an operation to clear infection so I had huge wounds on top and bottom of foot was in hospital for 6 days spending £12000 of my own money. Contacted admiral and was met my obstacle after obstacle. After 6 days with no commitment to pay hospital fees I made the decision to leave hospital and go back to UK. Had to buy a new ticket as missed my booked flight still no contact from admiral. On arrival a k in UK I went to hospital and was there for 2 weeks finally while there contact with admiral was made and after 3 months they paid my claim for hospital fees but forgot to pay travel. Osts. Have finally got travel costs this week after much toing and throwing 5 moths after incident. Please think carefully before going with them and I am going to purchase another policy if I am a ble to travel soon with another company Reviewed on: 8th September 2022

Absolutely horrendous service

I made a claim in May and this has still not been resolved. Every month i receive an email stating they require something or another. I uploaded all the required documents and every time i speak to an advisor over the phone (after holding in for 30-45 mins) i ask if this is it or is there anything else they require to which they say ‘Nope this is it’. I will be in touch with the travel ombudsman soon as i requested to speak to a manager and was told they would contact me within 72 hours its been double that time and still no contact. I called again today and spoke to Liz who said her colleague Louise is dealing with my case and she will contact me before 5pm, but guess what.. no call! I received an email (but can’t reply to it) at 17.13 requesting further information. There service is absolutely appalling and i would never recommend anyone to take out travel insurance with Admiral. I actually have no words to express my pain. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2022

Ex-partner was hospitalised in Thailand with Dengue Fever for 7 Days. Allianz paid out in full, quickly and easily and made sure we had the best care possible, with constant check ups on her condition. Reviewed on: 17th August 2022

beware even minor change in medical condition after buying insurance and booking holiday...

1
A quite bizarre experience. Took out annual travel insurance policy 9 months ago, and booked a holiday for this Sept shortly after that. I then had a couple of very minor ailments and saw a GP (very mild asthma, bunion). Phoned Admiral to confirm these conditions inm accordance with their polisy regarding any changes, however slight, and expected a routine "OK". However, they cancelled the policy before we were even off the phone! They also said cover for the pre-booked holiday in two weeks time wasn't included unless a GP advised us to cancel. Cancel for a bunion? Really?? Come on Admiral. This is madness. I was honest about the trivial conditions I saw a GP for, and there was virtually zero risk of cancellation or claim arising from either condition so to cancel seems like a case of "computer says". So prospective purchasers - be aware that if a minor medical condition occurs after you've taken out the policy and after you've booked a holiday, then Admiral may well cancel your cover and leave you stuffed. We have now booked alternative insurance - covering these minor conditions - without difficulty. We won't use Admiral again for any insurance and I strongly advise anyone to be aware of the risk of seeing a GP for the tiniest condition. if you don't declare it Admiral won't cover you and if you do they may cancel your policy.
