Review of the ASDA Money, Pet Insurance:

A very poor service

1
We put a claim in in September when our dog had to have an emergency operation and on 4th October we're told by Asda pet insurance that an assessor would shortly be looking at our claim. It is now December 11th and we are still waiting for an assessor to look at our claim. In November I called to be told there is a back log and they had no idea when this would be looked at. Very poor service. We took out pet insurance for peace of mind. This month I will phone again in hope that we will be reimbursed. Would I recommend Asda pet insurance NO! I wish I had read the reviews before taking out insurance with them. I have never written a review before but feel the service is so poor I have to make others aware. Reviewed on: 11th December 2024

Appalling

Took well over a month for claim to be settled, Asda Pet Insurance had actually had our claim forms for two weeks before deciding they needed further info from the emergency vet and they sent us a "if info is not received within 30 days claim will be closed" extremely threatening but as they were not asking us to provide further info but actually a third party being the emergency vet why employ such a threatening tone, the emergency vet replied to them immediately so then Asda decided they needed further info again but from out own vet, again the same thirty days threatening email and again it was a third party they were contacting for further info, not us, I cannot understand why the claims handler upon reviewing our claim failed to see further info was required from TWO different sources and request ALL info at SAME time, this would certainly seem like common sense which is something quite clearly in very short supply at Asda Pet Insurance, I complained about this unnecessary delay in requesting information and received a very abrupt response basically saying I had no right to complain about the assessor asking for info from one source one day and another source the next day, they have also seen fit to deduct £146.00 from our claim stating it was over "the £100 emergency vet fee" this is despite our young dog being treated on Saturday night and being told by the vet that if he continued to be sick or worsen in anyway we had to take him back, he did continue to worsen overnight so we had to take him back the following day, being a Sunday, we were following medical advice yet Asda seem to think they know better, in summing up there is a good reason why they are cheap, they are neither competent nor in anyway bothered about even attempting to offer even a modicum of customer service, AVOID !!!!!!!! lengthy wait but otherwise good experience

when our dog became ill we didn't hesitate authorising and paying for all the treatment, when it came to making a claim the process was simple enough. I had read reviews and to be honest wasn't confident about any of the claims being paid out. we sadly lost our dog shortly afterwards. it took almost 2 months for the decision on the claims and all were paid out less excess etc. we did have our last claim which I hadn't bothered submitting however we did submit this. I had continued with paying the insurance as I read that this would need to be paid for the full year ( we, were paying monthly). the last claim alerted the insurers to our dogs passing. we received a lovely email sending their condolences, and a further email advising that they had taken care of cancelling the policy and a refund was on its way, again not what we, asked for or expected. yes the wait was long for the claims to be settled, however once the first one was done the rest were done In days, we hadn't chased these up much as to be honest we didn't really care by then, however, maybe if we had it would have been done quicker. Avoid at all cost

1
A claim submitted in November 2022 and am writing this review in April 2023 still hasnt been paid. I am absolutely disgusted how incompetent this company is at this time especially grieving after loosing my poor dog, let alone having countless telephone conversations to no satisfaction whatsoever. They have actually paid the complete wrong vet practice and are refusing to pay my own vets until they get the money back from them… in the mean time passing my personal details to a complete stranger. This case has now been logged with the financial services ombudsman and am in the process of contacting the broken information commissioners office because of their breach in GDPR. Please avoid this pet insurance at all cost. Completely digusted. Reviewed on: 12th April 2023

Worst Insurer ever

Read the T&C Very carefully !!

You’ll see the website says it covers a certain amount of vet fees (5k in my case) but then when you come to claim you’ll find there are lots of conditions where they have a very low limit. This is not clear when you are buying and some of their limits are hidden when you view on line. Yes they are cheap….. but there is a good reason for this. I would avoid and pay the extra and go with a reputable company. Reviewed on: 29th November 2022

Takes over 5 weeks to pay out

1
Would not have used Asda if I knew it would take this long to receive claim back. Luckily the vet fees were not over £300 I would dread to think if the vet fees were higher and didn’t have the funds to pay straight away. Will not be renewing. Reviewed on: 31st August 2022

Disgusting company

1
I had 2 of my 5 dogs insured with them for over 10 years and did not make 1 claim on either policy. I sadly had to put to sleep my old boy after tests etc showed a diagnosis of liver cancer. When trying to claim for the vet bill I incurred for these tests I was informed they would be offsetting the remainder of his policy premiums for the 9 months until the next renewal against the claim if I proceeded with it. This meant instead of me being able to meet my financial liability to my vet I would end up owing them money also. I have checked with the insurers for my other 3 dogs and been assured this is not standard practice. This company is morally bankrupt. I have paid them for 2 policies for 10 years without 1 claim on either and they expect me to pay to insure a deceased animal against vet bills for a further 9 months. I am left with no alternative than to not proceed with the claim and pay the vet bill myself. Reviewed on: 25th August 2022

The worst insurance company we have ever dealt with Vets dont recommend them

1
So, we made a huge mistake in using this company for our vet insurnace, even though we got warned not to use them. I thought people were being silly with the negative reviews but its all true. We made one claim with this company for £500. We paid excess of £100, and then it took such a long time for them to settle the bill with the vets. They were chased for the bills. Eventually after putting ourselves through a lot of stresss after we lost our dog, they then refused to pay £173 of the vets bill which shocked ourselves and our vets. Our vets don't understand what they are playing at. They claim they pay you out when you lose your dog due to illness, do not believe them. They offered us £30 for the loss of our dog even though they claim they offer £1,500 I would not use this company for any type of insurance. Reviewed on: 12th June 2022
