Review of the Aviva, Home Insurance:

Flood damage and arguing with Aviva!

Following a flood from a burst pipe we have extensive damage to the lower floor of our property. Initially Aviva's response was excellent sending emergency responders within hours of us calling them. All of our flooring, skirting boards etc were ripped out and taken away on the same day and drying equipment installed.. What great service i thought but it has gone rapidly downhill since then! We are currently arguing with the loss adjuster on the settlement. We have been told that they have no contractors to do any of the repair work and we need to source our own material and labour. That's OK if Aviva will pay what it is going to cost but they will not. They say our quotes are too high and they can only pay us what they can get the work done for. How can they possibly use that argument when they have admitted they cannot complete any repairs for us. The assessor is rude and argumentative. Of course they could get the work done cheaper & that is because of their buying power, little old me cannot get those sort of discounts. I am not backing down as I am so furious with their attitude and will take it to the Ombusman if needed, DO NOT USE AVIVA FOR AYNY TYPE OF INSURANCE IF THIS IS HOW THEY TRAT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! Affordable great!

The price is great and everything you need for content insurance. It has pleasant staff at the end of a phone and affordable. I shopped around but even getting a bit more for more expensive price didn’t sway me. Easy to understand process to apply and no hidden extras, but haven’t had to claim. cheapest repair & still not right 8 years later

having had a flood, no work to dry the house was started for 3 months, the repair work was cheap and shoddy (the floor was relaid 6 times!!!). At ALL times I saved them money by not moving out to a hotel, etc. Reviewed on: 1st August 2024

AVOID

Made an insurance claim following a flood. Aviva admitted liability but refuse to pay more than a tiny fraction of the cost of repair. They are dishonest bully's. Reviewed on: 4th November 2023

Absolutely useless and a waste of money

During a localised storm my elderly neighbours ridge tiles were blown off his roof. Despite written evidence from several neighbours and the roofer of the storm and damage they accrued due to it Aviva have refused to pay out because a weather station 17 miles away said the wind speeds were not sufficient to be called a storm. He contacted the ombudsman who despite all the evidence provided decided to agree with aviva. They are obviously hand in glove allegedly. How photos of the damage, reports from neighbours of similar damage and trees blown down does not constitute sufficient evidence is beyond belief. BEWARE OF USING THIS COMPANY. Terrible aviva home insurance

If could give no stars i would Happy to take my £120.00per month for home insurance but covers nothing according to aviva i needed electrician and there said didnt cover but i could buy more cover at £90 pound a month wich then would take my payments to £210 a month then last year i needed a roof leak fixing and aviva said i had to pay 3 roofers to come out wich was none refundable and there would make a dision to sort leak on my roof this company robs people blind i will find a better deal some where else at £10er a month instead of £120.00 there rob people and i would recomend people should avoid Reviewed on: 8th October 2023

Great Home Insurance Company

I am very happy with Aviva insurance - my premium went down rather than up this year, which was unusual and very welcome! I recently added a high-value item to my insurance, and found the process (which I was able to complete online) very straightforward. All round good provider, and very user-friendly! I've never had to make a claim, but it's reasonable

Got contents insurance as a renter with the litigation/legal insurance too. The terms are reasonable for the price, and it's super easy to get a quote. Reviewed on: 24th August 2023
