Good insurer, but a little pricey

Avocado provide very good cover for contents, building and personal items. My one slight problem is that the premium renewal does not take into consideration that you’ve not had any claims in the previous year/years and the loyalty shown by the customer. Reviewed on: 5th September 2025

Appalling treatment of Pensioners

Appalling treatment of pensioners I have been an aviva customer for several years (both home and car insurance). I recommend them to my elderly parents for home cover. They had a water leak in their attached garage. They contacted aviva in June. A sub contractor (innovation), stated that they would need to dig to identify the cause. A £750 excess was taken. No digging was ever carried out, they came out several times and looked around, but no repairs carried out. The cause was not identified. They recommend my parents wait over the summer to see if it dries out. They leak continued to persist and worsen. They contacted Innovation and aviva again. Innovation came out and suggested that my parents must have "spilt" something and that they feel the issue is resolved. I rang aviva again today to state that the water damage is worsening and we are concerned about structural damage to the property. They stated that because the contractor has not identified any cause, then nothing further would be done. They will not/cannot get a second opinion and will not return the £750 excess that they took of pensioners and not resolved or even attempted to resolve the issue. The best they could offer was we could get an independent plumber (at our cost) and if a cause is found we could go back to them but no guarantee they will do anything about it. In short, they were happy to take a significant excess, with no attempt to resolve the issue (basically a call out charge) from an elderly couple. No warraning or explanation was given by Aviva or Innovation that this sum would not be returned even if no repairs took place. Appalling service. I will be cancelling all the policies I hold with them and have advised my parents to do the same. Reviewed on: 1st September 2025

I have been with Aviva Health insurance for over 15y...

I have been with Aviva Health insurance for over 15years and never claim. Also my Home insurance was transferred by my Barclays insurance after covid. I have been on both insurance for over 15years without claim. I had a problem with my Roof gutter over a year ago. They sent their representative to check. He informed me that it is nothing much than my excess so I should get someone to fixed it. This gutter was blown away last December windy storm and broke my fence and scattered on my neighbour garden. I called out on 17 December, they and followed it up on several occasions. They responded on 30th September. But contacted me on 6th January 2025 that someone will come and survey my house. The person who will visit text me and I text that I am not around and will not be able to access my backyard as I have informed them before 30th December that I will fix it because of the wind and rain not to leak into the house. This guy said leave it with me despite the fact that I told him I was not around. I took the photo as instructed by their staff that I informed that I can't leave my roof naked for so long as they were not responding and uploaded it to them. This guy then called me on the 8th of January 2025 that, he Google my house and could see damage to the gutter over a year ago. I told him that that was when I first called out for over a year ago and your company said it is minor thing so I can fixed it. In short I made a complaint and informed them that this guy said he Google it and did not come to my house. They then sent one of the pictures I uploaded to them after fixing it. I protested but they just brush me aside and snob me. They said I should complain to Osboman ombudsman. I felt tearful and shocked. Is this home insurance. I have thousands of pounds with them for over 15years. They increase my insurance yearly with out claim. That is reaping people off. It is inhumane. Stealing by trick. Fraudsters. I have my decision but please look for a better insurance and insure less.. AVIVA is for CAPITALIST. Reviewed on: 21st January 2025
