I am a vulnerable person living with severe dyslexia and serious ongoing mental health struggles. The way Aviva treated me caused such extreme distress that I reached crisis point and attempted suicide — this is how bad their conduct was. I had two genuine claims: theft of my home DIY tools in November 2024, and wall damage in October 2024. I reported everything properly in March 2026 — well within all legal and policy time limits. Under UK law (Limitation Act 1980) I have six years to bring a claim, and Aviva’s own guidance confirms they do NOT use strict rigid deadlines — so their accusations of “delay” are completely false. They appointed Sedgwick to carry out inspections. Sedgwick failed to attend confirmed appointments without even a message, and then lied saying it was my fault and that I had not confirmed dates. It was perfectly reasonable for me to lose all trust in them and refuse to work with them any longer. I simply asked for a different, independent surveyor, and also requested email‑only communication — which is my legal right under the Equality Act 2010 due to my vulnerabilities. For my tool theft claim, I provided the receipt I had been given when buying them privately — which is standard proof for second‑hand items — but Aviva rejected it anyway, looking for any excuse to deny what I was owed. Today — 24th August 2026 — Aviva's representative Jack McNeil sent me a letter cancelling my entire home insurance policy effective 30th August 2026. They claimed I had breached policy conditions and refused to cooperate — this is completely false. I answered every single question, sent all photos, receipts, and records, and cooperated fully from start to finish. I only refused to deal with an agent who had proven themselves untrustworthy. This cancellation is clearly retaliatory — happening only because I stood up for myself and sent my case to the Financial Ombudsman. Now I am at risk of being left uninsured, and they are trying to mark me down as uncooperative so that I will struggle to get cover in the future. Shocking, disgusting behavior. Many years as a loyal customer to be treated this way has impacted my mental health severely — to the point I tried to take my own life. They ignored my severe dyslexia, my mental health, and my vulnerability completely. They bullied me, lied to me, and tried to push me around simply because I asked for fair treatment.
