Price hike

After switching both my wife and I insurance to by miles, I was looking forward to staying a second year. My renewal price has changed from 4.5pence per mile to 18. 9pence per mile. This is in my opinion totally against the ethos of this type of insurance. I don't call that fair usage. Has anyone else had the same hike in price on their renewal.? Reviewed on: 27th February 2023

Cheap price, poor service

I am disappointed with this insurance company, I had no problem taking out the cover and was initially impressed with the glossy website and cheap cover. Thirty days before the auto renewal date of the policy I requested a quote, unfortunately no response. According to the FAQs on the website, it says quotes will be sent 21 days before auto renewal date. Disappointingly I received nothing from ByMiles. I tried calling them but could never get through, I also emailed them several times but no response. At this moment I thought I was fortunate not having to claim for an accident. It is almost impossible to speak to customer services. As I was not able to cancel auto renewal, I was on the assumption my cover will automatically renew. How wrong was I! The day came and my policy was cancelled without prior notice, However this was not clear on the ByMiles app. I eventually received a response after sending several complaints emails. I was told lies that an email was sent to inform that the policy will be cancelled. How ironic that I received all the junk marketing emails from this company but not the important cancellation email. Please don’t gamble your money with this insurance company, who knows what the claim process is like when they ignore you and make up lies. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2023

Insurance Rip off

I had by mile for 1.5 years now , they increase their , compulsory excess each year, now they are quoting from 100 to hiking to 1000+ premium. I had a road traffic accident recently, its been 2 months now , nothing has been settled, there accident claim is very poor , you will have to go through a process of 5 different companies to sorr your repair, I have been chasing up for 2 months, every other day otherwise it would have been months . Please be very careful, comprehensive insurance of By Miles donot give your courtesy car as standard it's subject to availability, if you need a car you will be stuck with no car for months . By miles are broker not an insurance company. They lure you in with small premium and than trap you with offers. If you need a courtesy car ask for extended courtesy car option and pay extra for it . Was Fantastic... Until it wasn't

I think I'm right in saying By Miles have changed their underwriter. So while I was all in with the brand, even inviting family and friends along the way. They said to me a few months ago their policies were being quoted at over £2000, I thought it couldn't be right. Lo and behold, my renewal price goes from £200 upfront + 8p per mile to over £1400 up front + 29p per mile. Shocking, I spoke to the customer care and there was nothing they could do, very disappointing. But as Adele once said - that's it, I quit, I'm moving on Reviewed on: 24th January 2023

rip off

was told the pence per mile would go up by another 0.5p because I was bying a more expensive car. Decided to buy the exact same car, same yr, same model and they then decided to charge me 2p mor eper m ile. Absolute rip off company. Also poor customer service- no body answers the phone. Miles tracker faulty

I joined by miles and have been sent the tracker. The tracker seemed faulty as I plugged it in the obd-2 socket it disabled my tyre inflation system, electronic brake system, engine system and car start system meaning the engine would not start to work, the car was dead! The first repair has cost me 1100. I contacted by miles and was asked for the miles tracker serial number. A software update would be given and I should try again. So I tried it again for a 2nd time and same faults again and the car needed a repair again this time it has cost me 350. I had my car repaired for a summary of 1450 and all I received is my insurance refund and an apology. No compensation or refund for the repair costs. Avoid! Reviewed on: 9th November 2022
