App hasn't worked in ages

I do most of my banking via app and online. The fact that the Co-op hasn't had a working app for months and months is really not acceptable. The customer service hasn't been good either with regards to this. I wouldn't recommend the bank to anyone who prefers to bank online. Reviewed on: 20th January 2020

Excellent benefits with the current account, well worth the annual fee

We have been very pleased with the Co-operative Bank. We moved to the bank because of it's ethical credentials. We pay a monthly fee for the current account for which we get annual travel insurance , access to airport lounges and mobile insurance. This offers good value for money. The website is clear and straightforward and hasn't let us down. Staff are on the ball in identifying and querying any unusual activity which is reassuring . Reviewed on: 19th January 2020

Ethical Bank, great service

As one of the few companies that have a clear ethical policy, the Co-operative Bank have amazing customer service too! Not only do I know I am using a company with the same values and ethics as me, their community activities and charity partners confirm this. Easy to use app makes life so easy. When I had someone hack my PayPal account and spend £80 using card details they sorted problem right away and gave me full refund. Reviewed on: 18th January 2020

Pay for a current account with terrible mobile phone insurance ?

Coop bank use an awful mobile phone insurance company supplying "refurbished" substandard phones and have horrible customer service who try and make it difficult to claim, spoils any of the good stuff that this bank have. Have been with them 20 years but I'm going to leave. It's just not worth it when other banks use reputable companies. Reviewed on: 17th January 2020

Was good, getting poorer all the time....

I’ve been a customer for over 40 years, it grew from a very small banking group to rival the big boys. It took 15 years to get really good but has been in decline ever since especially since it was taken over by venture capitalists. The website for years was a model of clarity, excellent information at your fingertips, since the “update” several years ago it is impossible to see recent transactions that you have instigated until they clear after 2 or 3 days, other information that was just there is now hidden away, it’s all been simplified to the point of stupidity. Faster banking worked for a while but is now as slow as the days before it was instigated, presumably to save money/increase earnings. The telephone service while operated by good people is now restricted hours. Overall I’ve been so disappointed with the service provided I’m moving to Starling Bank - a breath of fresh air! Great bank

I had a fraudulent experience not so long ago and the customer service was brilliant they passed me onto the fraud squad, froze my account, reimbursed my stolen money and kept me calm and said there was nothing to worry about it they would look into it. Very good service and helpful when I’ve got locked out of my bank I would highly recommend the coop bank services Reviewed on: 30th December 2019

Nasty vicious bastards!

These nasty evil bastards would not leave me in peace. Constant bombardment of marketing material. I asked them to stop under GDPR rules, but these disrespectful shits told me that an advert for their banking app was 'essential product information' - essentially lying to get around the law. They are not cooperative in any way. The only way I could get anything done was to write dozens of letters asking the same thing over and over and over again to the point where I threatened legal acton if they didn't perform a simple task like change of address. In the end the only way I could get them to stop was to close all of my accounts - even this took FOUR MONTHS!!! If you have a credit card, try finding out how much interest you pay each month - this is extremely difficult information to find - they deliberately hide it in the hope you don't notice. This is not 'cooperative' it's irresponsible at best and downright manipulative and nasty at worst! If this is good business practice in 2019 then I want none of it. Then they have the effrontery to tell me they have spent £17MILLION on their online banking - which as far as I can see is a new login screen with the same outdated pile of crap code on the back end that is at least 15 years old. £17MILLION for a facelift - utterly disgusting while there are people starving on the streets! Absolutely the worst banking service in the history of mankind. They should be banned from ever providing any financial services. 100% NASTY!! I moved to TRIODOS - the difference is night and day! If you think cooperative are good it's only because you have no better experience to compare it to, make the switch and see what you have been missing out on! Reviewed on: 14th December 2019
