Renewal quote should have been better.

Initially their renewal quote was a substantial increase on the previous year despite not having made any claims. However, they reduced their quote to nearer the previous years price after I made a phone call to them. Reviewed on: 24th May 2024

Subject: Complaint Review: Unfair Treatment and Poor Customer Service from Hastings Direct I am deeply disappointed with the unfair treatment and poor customer service I experienced with Hastings Direct regarding my car insurance. Despite no longer owning the car due to a fault caused by Hastings themselves, I was unfairly forced to continue paying nearly £90 a month for unusable insurance. For seven months, I endured a frustrating back-and-forth between Hastings Direct and the financial ombudsman, with no resolution in sight. While Hastings eventually resolved the issue, the damage to my trust and satisfaction with their company is irreparable. Throughout this ordeal, Hastings Direct displayed a lack of professionalism and empathy in their communication with me. They consistently missed deadlines and failed to provide adequate solutions, exacerbating an already stressful situation. In conclusion, I strongly advise against using Hastings Direct for insurance services. My experience with them has been nothing short of a nightmare, characterized by incompetence and disregard for customer well-being. Reviewed on: 11th April 2024

These guys are absolute scammers do not insure with Hastings direct, customer service very poor at resolving any issues you have with your insurance they are just quick to cancel your insurance. Please don't waste your money with these guys. I would recommend you pay a bit extra but go with someone reputable, a company that would go above and beyond to keep there customers and are happy to resolve any situation that arises. Son's insurance was £900. last year, £1600 this year. So we didn't take it up with them. But got a text saying your car is insured we just need payment. My son spoke to them and told them he'd gone somewhere else and was told by CS that he had to pay £20.00 Cancellation fee. He hadn't take the insurance with them but they insisted he need to pay. Avoid avoid avoid - hidden charges , we got insurance with Hastings last week. Since then we have been hassled for more and more Info with threats of cancellation. We provided the information. We put my licence held 16 years as I got my licence Feb 2008 now Feb 2024 There was no option for actual date. Police started on 1st Feb my licence on 5th Feb. They are now trying to charge £60 to change this as they're saying it should be 15 years Their math =2008 to 2024 is 15 years Please avoid, put of principal we cancelled but that cost £90 Reviewed on: 15th February 2024

Thieving scum.

Thieving scum. Called and cancelled my policy back in July 2023. Realised in January that they’d carried on taking payments and had not cancelled it. Rang them early January and was told I’d get a call back after the weekend. No call back and they took another payment! Called again to complain and was told that the nothing had been done so started the whole complaint process again. They told me they had listened to the call and I hadn’t cancelled the policy. I demanded to be sent the recording and was told it would take 6-8 weeks for me to receive it! Meanwhile I was told that to cancel the policy and get a refund I would have to provide proof of sale in order to be refunds from that date. I sold the car after keeping it in a garage for a few months after I cancelled the policy as the car was not roadworthy. Since when did you have to provide any of that to cancel your insurance? Absolute shower of w⚓️s. Do not use them. I’d hate to think what I’d have had to go through if I’d needed to make a claim. C U Next Tuesday. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2024

We have had a multi car policy with Hastings Direct for the last 2 years, our renewal is due on 1st Jan we had a quote last night +£300 increase on last year but decided to renew so rang them at 9.00am to pay in full (£920) to be told that there is a problem with our policy and their system won’t let us renew. I have spent 2.5 hours on and off the phone with them this morning just to be told they don’t know what the problem is so with less than 24 hours left on our insurance to just go elsewhere. To add insult to injury even though I paid in full last December I have received an email saying that I owe them £46.00 for cancelling the policy even though they cancelled it. To be fair their customer service people have tried their best but do come across as clueless. To think I bought my house and contents insurance with them last night I am now regretting that decision. Reviewed on: 30th December 2023

Late renewal of home and contents insurance

Called to renew house and contents insurance but missed renewal date by 12 hours. Agent said I would need to complete another application. She told me to go to a comparison web site to get quotes. Called back in an hour to try and renew policy again. The agent also told me the same. Tried a compare site, got a price £££’s cheaper through a different company. Not sure how the agents win any commissions though. Reviewed on: 17th December 2023
