I recently applied for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND...

I recently applied for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND RUGBY BUILDING SOCIETY and was initially approved for £288,000. However, the offer was unexpectedly reduced to £273,000 without a clear explanation. Despite paying a £199 application fee, I have yet to receive a refund, despite multiple attempts to contact customer service. This sudden change caused significant stress and wasted valuable time. I believe the lender's initial assessment was flawed, as the discrepancy of £15,000 is too large to be attributed to a simple error. Additionally, I am disappointed that my bonus was not fully considered in the initial decision-making process. If you are considering applying for a mortgage with HINCKLEY AND RUGBY BUILDING SOCIETY, I would advise caution. Superb customer service, great savings rate

I selected a savings account with H&RBS, and as I do not live close to a branch I completed the account opening application by post, and expected to wait some time for a response as it was sent over the Christmas holiday. I was delighted to receive a call on the first possible business day to confirm that my account was already opened, and further calls to confirm receipt of the funds. The customer service I received could not have been better, and I am very happy to deal with the Coalville branch. Reviewed on: 28th December 2023

Thinking of moving to this building society.

Live in Rugby and decided check this building society out. I have been with the Halifax bank nearly all my adult life, which is just a few buildings down from H & R. Never had interest on my savings for the last 10 years with the Halifax. Went in H & R today and spoke to someone about starting an account with them, plenty of information about the interest rate’s which was very pleasing. Always fantastic customer service!

I opened 2 young saver accounts for my grandchildren. We had our mortgage & savings with H &R and it is just the most friendly place to go to. Jeanette at Rugby has always been our point of contact & she’s as lovely now as she was many many years ago. Just the nicest person & a smiling constant in the Rugby office.
