closed my account despite balance of £200K

living abroad and could not change mail address because you cannot do it over the phone and could not go in to branch because I am overseas. Account inactive so they decided to close it and send me a cheque to an old address because I had been unable to change my address. had to wait 90 minutes to speak to someone, never mind the cost of the call from Australia. No real resolution to the situation. Even if the cheque has not been fraudulently cashed (they could not tell me) they will issue another and I will not have a bank account to pay it into. Lots of apologies from the agent but the service is terrible and it is not fair that they put their staff on the front line to deal with this nonsense

Closed to new business accounts

Great credit ratings and a new customer of hsbc and refused business account with no reason. Do not waste your time and effort applying. Personal accounts yes business accounts no.

when i asked why the marker put on they had no answer . Tried to make appointment with manager to be told no i cannot see a manager.
avoid hsbc if you can.

when i asked why the marker put on they had no answer . Tried to make appointment with manager to be told no i cannot see a manager.
avoid hsbc if you can.

I’ve been with HSBC for my personal account since it took over the Midland Bank. I’ve had my business account for over 15 years. They’ve closed so many branches it’s ridiculous, leaving me with a choice of 2 branches. 2 weeks ago I went to the most local bank…. It was shut for ‘refurbishment’…. Couldn’t they have done that BEFORE they shut several other local branches? Today I went to pay in my cash and cheques and get some change for my small business and they were open, yaaaay! I don’t know what’s been ‘refurbished’, other than the lack of bank tellers. YES, they are a bank that now NO LONGER TAKE CASH OR CHEQUES! No teller services AT ALL…. But hang on, I can pay in at the Post Office. So I’m paying for a business bank account from a ‘bank’ that no longer offers any banking services I need…. 15 years loyalty…. Bye bye HSBC, I’m very disappointed that you’re forcing people in to a digital world when so many people still deal with cash.

Avoid this bank at all costs. Closed all of my accounts without notice when they finally realised that THEY had made an error (after being told immediately) on my bounceback loan 1 year earlier. Put CIFAS markers against me stating no intention to repay when I had already started to repay the loan which is just malicious!!! Refuse to acknowledge their mistakes and refer you to the Ombudsman instantly without investigating customer assertions. They know they are making mistakes but are not bothered and prefer the lazy route of complaint investigation via the Ombudsman. The Account Recovery Team are ignorant and are not prepared to listen. Quality of replies including grammar are poor, as is the quality of staff they employ obviously. Ironically this Bank is accused of fraudulent dealings on a very regular basis. It’s only a matter if time before they are made to pay for their conduct.

Mostly awful.

The app is hard to use. Getting through to the bank takes ages every time. Most departments don’t know where their responsibility ends and another begins. Each department doesn’t know what other departments do.

Mostly the staff are lovely though and doing their best.

I am now resorting to capitals. AT THE MOMENT I’M TRYING TO CLOSE MY BANK ACCOUNT AND THEY HAVEN’T CLOSED IT IN SIX WEEKS. APPARENTLY THERE’S A QUEUE. NEITHER HAVE THEY SENT ME THE THOUSANDS OF POUNDS IN MY ACCOUNT THAT I NEED TO PAY FOR THINGS.

NEITHER WILL ANYONE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND THEY CAN’T CALL ME BACK AS THEY DON’T MAKE OUTGOING PHONE CALLS

Seriously hopeless. Avoid.

Needed to get through to HSBC business banking 1st and 2nd time on hold for over an hour with some irritating voice coming up every 20 seconds telling you thanks for waiting, third time I had an option of a ring back., they did phone back then after a few words the phone cuts of , phoned again fourth time on hold 57 minutes till I hung up

Gave up after 1.5 hours as I couldn't sit looking at my ipad any longer) I then logged a call-back today over 4.5 hours ago - still waiting!

You have to speak to someone to get a new security fob, so have no choice. We will be changing bank accounts

safegards threaten to clse my account

I banked with hsbc for 28 years savegards gave an ultimatum message online " Do or Die" it was shocking. I am going to move to another organisation to treat me with respect.

How HSBC continue to trade is amazing to me.

A Premier and multiple business accounts holder. HSBC has really shown how little they care about their customers. Its staff have no idea what they are doing, and rather than help, they put you on hold and then 'accidentally' cut you off.
With millions about to hit an account, the person handling the account could not be found and a reply from their HSBC email simply said they are no longer handling the account - no forwarding contact or number to call. Their practices have literally cost me money and customers.
As of next week, I am moving all of my business, savings and mortgages, to another bank.
How HSBC continue to trade is amazing to me.
I am in no way embellishing, they are awful to work with; and not cheap.

So here I am, 30 minutes on hold and counting (it’s also the third department I’ve been told to contact) waiting to understand why I am having a refund reversed after receiving an abrupt message at 11.39 saying “we’ve not heard from you” (I missed a call at 11.38). I have banked with HSBC my whole life but even though the administrative hassle of switching fills me with abject horror, I can’t abide the thought of having to speak to their useless contact centre(s) any more. So it’s off to their subsidiary with much better reviews for customer service I go… Wish me luck. And if you’re thinking of taking the £125 incentive to join HSBC, if you value your sanity, please give it a swerve.

NEEDED TO REPLACE MY SECURITY DEVICE! I CALLED AND GOT TRANSFERRED TO A FEW OPERATORS DURING THE CALL TO GET TO THE CORRECT ONE. TOOK 2HRS 10MINS TO FIND OUT I NEED TO GO TO BRANCH AS I FORGOT MY PASSWORD. WENT TOJEWELERY QUARTER BRANCH IT WAS CLOSED... Read more

GOT TO THE BANK, THAT CLOSED EARLIER AS A COVID CASE WAS REPORTED. SO WASTED HALF A DAY. HAD TO COME BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY AND CALL USING THE PHONE IN THE BANK. THATS NO DIFFERENT WAITED 1HR, 40 MINS TO SPEAK TO AN OPERATOR TO GET MY PROBLEM SORTED. THERE WAS NO EMOION SHOWN BY THE OPERATOR OR STAFF TO APPOLOGISE FOR TAKING THIS LONG!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO JOIN HSBC BUSINESS. LOOKING TO SWITCH BANKS NEXT MONTH

Business phone banking delays of up to 2 hours, bad app ecosystem, slow and inflexible. On the plus side they've been around for a long time, but not in a great capacity.
