So here I am, 30 minutes on hold and counting (it’s also the third department I’ve been told to contact) waiting to understand why I am having a refund reversed after receiving an abrupt message at 11.39 saying “we’ve not heard from you” (I missed a call at 11.38). I have banked with HSBC my whole life but even though the administrative hassle of switching fills me with abject horror, I can’t abide the thought of having to speak to their useless contact centre(s) any more. So it’s off to their subsidiary with much better reviews for customer service I go… Wish me luck. And if you’re thinking of taking the £125 incentive to join HSBC, if you value your sanity, please give it a swerve.

DEAD SERVICE

NEEDED TO REPLACE MY SECURITY DEVICE! I CALLED AND GOT TRANSFERRED TO A FEW OPERATORS DURING THE CALL TO GET TO THE CORRECT ONE. TOOK 2HRS 10MINS TO FIND OUT I NEED TO GO TO BRANCH AS I FORGOT MY PASSWORD. WENT TOJEWELERY QUARTER BRANCH IT WAS CLOSED... Read more

WENT TOJEWELERY QUARTER BRANCH IT WAS CLOSED THEN DROVE TO TOWN PARKED IN CARPARK AND PAID FOR A TICKET THINKING IM GOING TO BE THERE FOR A WHILE. GOT TO THE BANK, THAT CLOSED EARLIER AS A COVID CASE WAS REPORTED. SO WASTED HALF A DAY. HAD TO COME BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY AND CALL USING THE PHONE IN THE BANK. THATS NO DIFFERENT WAITED 1HR, 40 MINS TO SPEAK TO AN OPERATOR TO GET MY PROBLEM SORTED. THERE WAS NO EMOION SHOWN BY THE OPERATOR OR STAFF TO APPOLOGISE FOR TAKING THIS LONG!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO JOIN HSBC BUSINESS. LOOKING TO SWITCH BANKS NEXT MONTH

Very poor Platform and Service

Business phone banking delays of up to 2 hours, bad app ecosystem, slow and inflexible. On the plus side they've been around for a long time, but not in a great capacity.

Accessing HSBC Business account online is a truly dreadful process. The forms don't work properly. The online assistant crashes. When you try to phone to get assistance I waited 2 hours in a queue and never got through. Is there any online bank worse than this? My other account is First Direct, which is a bank that actually works online. Amazing that these 2 banks are owned by the same company. It's almost like the adults run First Direct and the 13 year olds run HSBC Business Banking.

As my old digipass has died, I simply need a replacement Digipass & Activation Code to regain access my multiple business accounts.
To clear security easily by face to face, I have been into my local Branch twice who were also able to supply me with a new digipass. Despite clearing secutrity while in Branch, Business Internet Banking's 2 attempts
to forward me an Activation Code have failed so far.
So I'll have to go into Branch a 3rd time to see if we can resolve this failure.
If HSBC business banking is progressing like this, I'll have to review my future arrangements - as it leaves long established, bona fide customers like me feeling helpless in being able to access my own accounts.

not able to process any simple task. Customer service phone - you wait at least 40 min and then you are cut out, to start again. Insisting on some security review and their form does not work on-line. Waiting more than 2 months for a debit card - nothing happened even after ringing them countless time. Threatening me to close the account by letters because of their IT problems. No I am really worried if they close it if I would ever be able to get the money back. The only good thing is that if you are lucky and get through the line, the staff is polite - promising anything, but nothing happens - guess they are frustrated as well. Avoid under any cost.

I wish a score of zero was an option . No complaints at all with the quality of staff they have in-branch, but they are a disgusting organisation that lack even a modicum of decency. Six weeks after instructing the closure of my business bank account, and despite one of their staff calling me to say everything had been approved 4 weeks ago, they still haven't transferred my account balance into my personal account. They offer no logical explanation, no real apology and are refusing to tell me when I can expect to see this resolved. They are utter bandits, so please think twice before allowing them to look after your money!

Applied for a business account in July - HSBC confirmed they had everything they needed from me. It is now approaching December and they still haven't been able to open my account because they have 'been busy'. Matter has now been taken up with the Ombudsman. Appalling.

Telephone service has become unusable since Covid.

I have to say, since Covid it has become very time consuming to speak to a real person at HSBC (business banking). About an hour seem to be a normal wait time (I've experienced 50 mins plus a few times). That interferes with the working day.... Read more

I have to say, since Covid it has become very time consuming to speak to a real person at HSBC (business banking). About an hour seem to be a normal wait time (I've experienced 50 mins plus a few times). That interferes with the working day.

My experience today was especially bad. This morning the automated answering service offering me a call back option, which I took. This option is not always presented. I received a call back - great, that works - however the guy put me on hold to speak with a colleague and never came back. 30 mins late I hung up.

The problem with banking is that to move elsewhere I have to give my clients different account details and they don't want the inconvenience.

Over an hour on the phone waiting for a service agent........when does it get to the point where its costing me too much time to 'pay' myself

My business has 3 separate companies accounts, and is charity and not for profit supporting the NHS Maternity sector. We have been with HSBC for over 35 years. I have never, ever, been so frustrated and angry as now with regard to its supposed 'safeguarding' technique for want of a better word. The issue with one of the companies has been going on now for over 18 months. Constant emailing, phoning (which is a nightmare - waiting for at least half an hour to find you cant hear the person at the end, and they don't seem to understand anything), and complaining. Generic non sensible responses to any complaint - just a standard nothing telling you how' important safeguarding is and for us to be mindful of taking it seriously'!!! The safeguarding on line form is impossible to complete for us as most of the questions are irrelevant to our charity. One document fits all as they say! We finally completed this after one year in February, after an apology and small compensation for what took literally days out of my business time! Hooray I thought. To my horror another request was flagged up three weeks later to complete another! 'It is a random request from the computer' says the non helpful HSBC clerk. There are so many issues, and the problem is that nothing seems to get resolved. I cannot bear this anymore, and no one with any tiny amount of competence is available. Can anyone help???

Terrible ... don’t think there are any staff in as it’s all automated and closed ....I’ve never seen it this bad before ... quests their staff are all playing the covid card and milking it ....

I have been locked out of my account for days for the simple error of needing to change a password. A simple problem that most organisations deal with online within a few minutes. With HSBC this has taken days and still nothing. The on-line system requires downloading a form printing it signing, scanning it and emailing back, which is then ignored. They have frozen my on-line account without any email or warning. Just now I was on hold on for over two hours before the call was cancelled, back on again and waiting. Do not touch this bank, if you are with this bank move.

I wanted to make a payment a week ago for my phone bill, ho-ewer i wast able as my card didnt went trough, once i called bank i was told that my card has been frauded , i explained that it was me who was using the card for jd sports , any how I told that i just want to pay bill for the phone and she told me that i CANT, after long arguments she let me to pay the bill for my phone and told me that she will order new card, i was ok with that, however i asked if i can use this card to buy food and travel home, she said yes, and also that i will be able to take the cash....next day morning i went to the coffee shop and i was with work colleagues and my card declined i was so embarrassed ..after work i wanted to go home when i went to the bus card was declining again, so i went to nearest atm and wanted to take the cash, once i put card in the cash point there was a message than my card frauded and it was swollen /taken by atm,so I left with no card and money as it was Friday after working hours and none of the HSBC banks open Saturday and Sunday. i called bank and complained that i was told that i will be able to use my money while new card on the way but nevertheless my card was taken by cash machine , so i left with no cash no card, i have no familly here i am walking to work every day i cancelled my plans and i also had usines flights and many things regarding work and payments , i have been told that new card will arrive 3-5 working busines days hoewer nothing received yet after 5 days, when i called ONE MORE TIME today, on the phone i understoon that card wasnt ordered at all and she told me that i need to wait 5 more working days which is almost 2 weeks ...i have no word how much ,stress, confusion it cost for me also in regards of my work , business , and all kind of things, only my phone calls to you cost me almost 50£ also i wast able to make many payments and i am told to wait 5 more working days thats terrible that 3 people couldn't order the cards by mistake , and i want a compensation because it cost me a lot of damage not only money wise but physically and mentally.

HSBC Bloody useless bank! Been waiting nearly 12 weeks for bounce back loan, chased sign-off docs, signed them three weeks ago, was told money would be in account within 48 hours, still nothing! AND that is after chasing it up upteen times, Bank Manager been on the case for last week, he's getting no-where, apparently. Anyone thinking of joining this bank should think twice, as I know lots of people leaving it! I have been with the bank for 35 years, when it was Midland Bank, since becoming HSBC, it has slowly gone down hill to an incompetent mess!
