Huge mistake of age.com 2024 switch of Underwriter.

I was with age.com for many years and very satisfied with their ageous underwriter. In 2024 with great fanfare age.com announced it was switching to LV, whose road /home assistance was with Brittania. After 50 years with the AA I reluctantly swopped as the LV cover was cheaper. This year, LV has quoted a renewal sum of £794.19 against last year’s quote of £489.45! They state ‘Your LV Car Insurance won’t renew unless you contact us.’ How many age.com members can afford that increase? I’m livid at having ceased my gold membership with the AA and am sure I’m not alone feeling cast aside. Reviewed on: 19th January 2025

After having left Aviva after awful customer service after a non fault accident I have been extremely pleased with how easy it is to communicate on the phone with a human being amd response time on email is extremely quick as well. Reviewed on: 28th July 2023

Worst insurance, avoid

Definitely the worst insurance companies I have dealt with. I’ve been with them for 2 months with no issues at all, until I got into an accident and my car went in to their garage for repair. They have tried everything they could to not go ahead with my claim in such an unprofessional manner. 2 weeks into the claim they said they will be cancelling my insurance with immediate effect and won’t be going ahead with my claim because I haven’t declared any car modifications to them which are the following, car being de-badged, after market alloys and window tints which sounded so silly to me because I wasn’t even aware of such things having purchased the car like this and owned it for 5 years now and been with plenty of insurances and never had a similar issue or even heard of such things. And now returned my car back in even worst conditions and they’re not willing to take accountability for nothing. Worst company please avoid. Reviewed on: 21st July 2023

Current Insurance claim

Left us uninsured due to an LV system issue.

We tried to take out a policy online, but the LV system glitched and did not complete the payment. However, the transaction was recorded on our credit card account consuming £1000 of credit and leaving us unable to make a second payment. Ultimately we were left with an uninsured car, and LV said there was nothing they could do other than take out (expensive) temporary insurance at our cost. A terrible way to treat a customer given it was an LV system issue. They could have organised temporary cover, or provided cover until the pending payment cleared, allowing a second try. Awful experience. I don't need LV to explain what happened, but to explain why they were unable to recitfy an issue they caused Reviewed on: 20th June 2023

You bust my business after 15 years

20th dec 2022 = accident Called same day. One month later car is still in my yard. I cannot afford to hire, I have no income Cannot get to work, even if they started repairs it would be a further 2 weeks. I have car hire on my policy. No hire car is available I’m told. Now I am job less and no income. This is 100% genuine. Reviewed on: 16th January 2023
