Huge mistake of age.com 2024 switch of Underwriter.

I was with age.com for many years and very satisfied with their ageous underwriter. In 2024 with great fanfare age.com announced it was switching to LV, whose road /home assistance was with Brittania. After 50 years with the AA I reluctantly swopped as the LV cover was cheaper. This year, LV has quoted a renewal sum of £794.19 against last year’s quote of £489.45! They state ‘Your LV Car Insurance won’t renew unless you contact us.’ How many age.com members can afford that increase? I’m livid at having ceased my gold membership with the AA and am sure I’m not alone feeling cast aside. Reviewed on: 19th January 2025

Excellent customer service and 5* cover

best price for multicar

Have only just signed up to them for my multicar insurance for my wife and me so cannot comment on customer service, but initial experience very good. Web site very easy to use, and best of all i saved over £400 on my renewal quotation from Direct line (which had gone up 100 from previous year), as well as other quotes from Admiral and NFU. Had to double check that i had all the details in correctly as it seemed such a good deal by comparison Reviewed on: 30th May 2019

Renewal of multi car policy very reasonable

After one year on a multi car policy (wife & self) renewal had a modest rise. Phoned to remove hire cars from policy and after some questions they removed the hire cars and further reduced my premiums. Compared to similar cover with Admiral they were considerably cheaper. Can't get hold of them!

Trying to change my address. The website is just an advert and provides no functionality. Can't get through on the phone, they are always experiencing "heavy call volumes". They need more staff or fewer customers! Reviewed on: 24th April 2019

Cancellation threats

Despite resolving a premium increase due wife claims on separate policy entirely by removing her as named driver. Today received threatening letter of cancellation or pay a increased premium I have asked for apology which I was told it may not be possible Reviewed on: 1st February 2019

Uninterested

Customer service is uninterested. Had a bump (my fault) with a rusty old van. The rust bucket caused damage to my car only. Yet he put a claim in and LV paid out and refused to look into it or acknowledge the photographic evidence i provided. Dramatically increased my premium. Never again. Make sure to protect no claim bonus and fit a dash cam! Reviewed on: 30th December 2018

Apalling customer service AVOID

Added another vehicle to an existing policy in September 2018. Hit by 3rd party who have admitted liability (drivers door hit). Car sent to their approved repairer. Car has come back now with no warranty because they have sprayed the wing to colour match (car 2 years old). Paintwork horrendous having already chipped. Taken vehicle to Burrows for inspection. LV sent out their own person to do the inspection. Only authorising 2 door seals. Says paint work satisfactory?! Clearly not when the claims advisor says on the phone that customer relations have seen the photos and will put me in a position as per before the accident. Three days later your telling me your not responsible for anything other than 2 door seals. Over promise and under deliver. Good job calls are recorded! What are you going to do about the warranty issue now. The car is on finance and the dealership won’t take the car back in that state! Avoid LV and the cowboys who carried out the repairs - Just Car Clinic. Will be taking the matter to FOS. Reviewed on: 27th November 2018

Will do their best not to pay out

Tried to make a claim for rain damage during some *VERY* heavy rain I was told that because their records showed it hadn't rained "enough" during that day, that they wouldn't honor my claim, even though the torrential downpour made local news! Another disgraceful company that will always do their best to avoid paying out The lady answering the claims call was also exceptionally rude and patronizing. AVOID PS - Note to LV. Do NOT BOTHER replying to this saying something generic like "oh sorry to hear about this. Please email us at we-dont-care @ lv.com to discuss further" because realistically you don't care and that kind of reply is the biggest cop out ever. You have my records on your system... if you care about resolving this YOU CALL ME. Reviewed on: 12th November 2018
