Review of the LV (Liverpool Victoria), Home Insurance:

Everything fine, easy to purchase and deal with

4
Home insurance was easy to purchase online, price was competitive, have not had to claim so can't comment on that experience Reviewed on: 3rd September 2023

Luv LV

5
Straight forward insurance that doesn’t cost the earth, easy to set up online, LV information easy to read & understand. Unable to comment as to claims process which thankfully I have not had to use, long may this continue! My policy covers buildings & contents, I was able to adjust excess amounts which in turn impacted premium paid for cover, choice to opt in & out of extras as required too, this impacting total premium which is especially good at present when costs are sky rocketing & moneys tight. Bad for business

Instead of finding a reason to pay out a legitimate claim they will think up any reason NOT to pay!….using these guys is as good as throwing your money away! Bad for business this company is and they send you from pillar to post. Zero stars for their shocking business ethic Reviewed on: 2nd May 2023

Credit Solution

I have been making regular payments on a loan that was opened in Oct 2022, but my lender did not report my account to the credit bureaus until Jan 2023. When this account popped up on my credit report, it showed that I had only made two payments even though I had not missed a single payment. I filed a dispute with the credit bureaus and contacted my lender to fix the problem on my credit report. They've been back and forth for months now with no signs of repair. Thank you FixMyCredit for helping me take care of the damage done and the financial advice given. FIXMYCREDIT at WRITEME dOt com.. Reviewed on: 29th March 2023

Ripping off long-standing customers

1
For the second year in succession LV have increased my home insurance premium by huge amounts. In the last two years it has increased by 200% when my circumstances have not changed and no claims have been made. In fact I have not made a claim since January 2010. When I telephoned to ask the reason for the increase this year which was even larger than in 2022 I was told by the agent that there was no point in making a complaint as it would be disregarded out of hand and actually thrown in the bin. She suggested I should look elsewhere as she said she would in my position. Nevertheless I decided to raise the question with the CEO and eventually received the reply predicted and which I had expected full of assertions about market conditions and short on actual facts as they apply to my circumstances. I have now got rates at a third of the 2023 quote on better terms than I had with LV from other highly reputable companies working in the same market and in the same conditions as them. Frankly the claims on the LV website that “Great customer service is just the beginning” is indeed laughable and utter nonsense. As to another assertion that "10% of customers paid less that £109 from July to September" that too is completely meaningless since it doesn't say anything about sums insured or if it is for building or contents or combined and of course it has no real life context because LV dare not provide one. It really is utterly disingenuous. My advice is don't trust this company to do the right thing by their customers and look elsewhere for value for money which LV certainly does not provide. Massive premium increase

1
Just had my home insurance renewal from LV . I have had no claims in the past year and yet the premium is increasing by 66%. I called them and they said it was because they were migrating customers to ‘improved policies’. I said I was happy with the existing cover but that’s not an option. Goodbye LV! Worst Home Insurance company !!

1
30 years of having home insurance and hardly ever claimed i unfortunately took out home insurance with the worst home insurance company LV . Please don't use this company i have had the most stressful week trying to sort out a simple job of replacing a toilet button and a part in toilet cistern that stop working so i couldn't flush the toilet . I rang to explain what had happened ( in my cover it stated i was covered for bathroom suite with plumbing it is a silver cover . I took a day off work to wait for the 1st engineer arriving he came looked at the toilet said he didn't have the right part he would order the part and be in contact . On the Saturday of that week an unpleasant 2nd engineer arrived with the part ordered by the 1st engineer he looked at the problem and informed me the 1st engineer ordered the wrong part and that “ he no longer works for the company as he couldn't get a grip of the job “ just great! he took a photo of the part and said he would be in contact once he gets the part . Half an hour later emergency cover rang and said the whole toilet needs to come out and to contact my insurance company and inform them i need “track and trace”. I asked do they not communicate with each other the advisor who was so patronising and unpleasant drove me crazy informing me i need to contact them . I was then informed by LV i am not covered for track and trace ?? I explained don't have a leak so i don't need track and trace its just the button and part inside toilet needs replacing ( this job previously 5 years ago was sorted on the first visit when i had Tesco insurance tgey use dyno rod ) I am now left having to go through a plumber who came out and said the job is no problem he's ordered the part and replacing it when it arrives costing me £100 . Why would i be told the whole toilet needs to come out ? Please save yourself the stress use any other insurance company but these cowboys . I had another 6 months on my policy i am cancelling it and going back to a insurance company that actually cares about their customers . I know they are few and far between but i should not have switched from Tesco . LV sort your policies out and be more transparent and give better training to your call centre staff especially on how to speak politely to customers! Reviewed on: 28th January 2023

Rubbish insurance company

1
I’ve never made a claim before so when i did make a claim for a cable end damage where water has got through to my walls inside they said it’s maintenance and building insurance don’t cover it, but said they can cover internal because i have accidental damage. To now be told I’m not covered internally as it only happens when it rains and it’s not a one off accident, what’s the point in having cover Reviewed on: 18th January 2023

Do not buy a policy with LV!

1
We have not been able to get through to the LV emergency home line for several days and no engineer has called despite completing an online form and receiving a text to say one would be calling. Its is disgraceful. We have been freezing for days in sub-zero temperatures. I have never experienced worse customer service... avoid like the plague! Reviewed on: 19th December 2022
