3 months on from a small fire still awaiting resolution

3 months on from a small fire and still awaiting full resolution from a company called Sedgwick who work with Aviva. Claim handler NEVER returns calls, having to sign up to multiple ‘portals’ left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. When you call make sure you’ve put aside 45 minutes of your precious time. Latest renewal has jumped massively, I guess those of us living in normal areas are now paying for the clowns who buy property on riverbanks, Reviewed on: 26th March 2024

Renewals now a Rip Off

Been with them at least 10 years since think they were underwritten by HSBC but now sadly they use Aviva. This years Home insurance premium up 31.7%!!! Now switched to Churchill very similar cover and paying substantially less than previous year. We all know loyalty counts for nothing in world of insurance but lady on phone representing M&S did not even try to keep me as a customer and after 10 years would have hoped might even have asked basic qiestion like why i am cancelling. Sadly for me M&S brand been devalued by company they using for insurance. Reviewed on: 19th January 2024

Pet Insurance

Prepare to have your policy costs double at review. You’re not dealing with M&S you’re dealing with Royal and Sun Alliance and all they want is you money. Once they feel like they have you because your dog is that bit older they’ll be openly rude and entitled. Reviewed on: 3rd November 2023

Got a quote from these jokers!

Near fell over seeing what they quoted myself. ~£1,600 for premium insurance! That’s just plain and simple taking the ****! Why don’t you ask for my kids savings as well. Shame on you for trying that with customers! Reviewed on: 24th October 2023

Brilliant at addressing problems

M&S Home Insurance were really efficient when i needed to make unforeseen amendments on a temporary basis. Not the cheapest but great cover and customer service. Reviewed on: 24th August 2023

Best contents insurance for those with valuables

I have a lot of art. Every year, I had to go through the arduous task of listing each piece worth more than £1000. Then I discovered the M&S policy, which covers all valuables with a generous single-item limit of £15,000. This has simplified my renewal process. I also had to make a claim one year, and they could not have been more helpful and paid out promptly. I cannot imagine going anywhere else for my insurance now. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2023

Great price and cover for home insurance

I bought my first home in 2021 and shopped around for the best deal on home insurance. As I already have a credit card with M&S, I thought I’d try their home insurance product first. I haven’t looked back. Their price for the year was much cheaper than other providers and it covers everything I want from a home insurance policy. I will continue to have my home insurance with them and will recommend them to family and friends. Reviewed on: 18th August 2023

Robbed twice

I am disabled and need care in the home. Unfortunately, someone has taken advantage of this fact and thieved from my home. These personal items weren't on show, meaning whoever took them had the full intention to do so. However, this is to discuss my jewelry claim, and not the circumstances that lead to this claim - beyond some idea of context. I've lost everything, barring a single ring that was left. I was completely honest in the information I provided, including the value of the jewelry on the date of purchase. I am insured at a rate of 10.000 per item, but as I'm aware, two of my rings have pushed this rate. I understand and accept that this is my fault; I've let my insurance pass this rate without realising the policy had since changed. I was further passed forwards to Hallmark to have my claim dealt with, and though the staff were nice, I could not believe however the absurd way at which they asked me for the size of my diamonds - I was genuinely asked how many pen tips it would take to reach the size of my diamond. I wasn't really sure how to answer and just told them in the proper unit of measurement - millimeters. After going through the ordeal of explaining not just my items but the jewelry left by my late mum, was then left to the evaluation at which I feel I was robbed again. £18,900 after the £100 is taken off the initial £19,000, of which wouldn't replace even two of the rings stolen. I was then a given a choice of two jewelry shops to use none of which are within two hours driving time from my home.I have since refused the settlement and was told it was none negotiable. I contacted M&S who seem happy to take my money each month but do not want to pay fair compensation.In the meantime, I looked over the sites of both jewellery stores and not one could replace my jewellery to the quality of my stolen jewelry.It appears that either M&S doesn't seem to have any control over the decisions being made, or they're simply don't care adding to their customers' problems. Unfortunately when robbed I lost everything including proof but I am insured for £10.000 per item. If this is the way forward why am I paying insurance. Reviewed on: 17th August 2023

Shrinking premiums!

I initially went for M&S home insurance based on good scores by Which? and a low quote, helped by a large cashback offer through Quidco. I haven't had to make a claim with them, so I can't recommend them on that basis, but I have been very pleasantly surprised that they have reduced their already low premium every year, so I have stuck with them.
