Decent 0% offer, but not a great online experience

Their 0% offer was exceptionally long (at the time), so I was delighted to be accepted for this. But the sheer amount of hoops to jump through to log onto the website, and navigate around, just makes it a pain to work with. I really think with a website more around the Capital One/MBNA style, would make it more appealing and easy to get around! As a result I have just set up a DD, and don't really go on there any more to check statements etc.! Reviewed on: 4th June 2023

If I could give 0 stars I would. I’ve never been able to use the card without it being declined. Every time I call the helpline I’m told “there’s no reason the payment can’t go through”. After arguing that there is obviously a reason for it, I get passed on to a different person so tells me an excuse and tells me the issue is fixed and hangs up. But the issue is not fixed and I end up having to call back and then I’m told a different excuse. The people on the phone don’t seem to know what they’re doing and will tell you excuse after excuse and contradict and repeat themselves over and over again. After trying to make one payment it finally went through after 3 days of calling them and only did it go through after a put an official complaint in. Again I am trying to use the card for a second payment and it’s declining. I’ve been on the phont on and off to them for the last three hours and every advisor has told me something different. One has even told me “it’s against our policy to use the card to pay to car services like you are trying to do” which is complete bullshit there is no restriction for this. Trying to tell me that the credit card cannot be used to car merchants such as Ford, mini, bmw etc that this is not allowed. Then the next advisor tells me that this is not true but again “there’s no reason why the payment can’t go through” but not accepting the fact that for some reason it is declining. So unhelpful, the card is shit and doesn’t even work. If you want to get a card with M&S bank just be prepared to have all payments declined and to spend 3-4 days on the phone arguing and arguing until they finally accept it and the staff will repeat the same useful shit over and over again. Amateurish

Transactions take days to appear....every other CC app is immediate. Far too much approval of transactions.....£2.63 in a Weths less than 30 mins after approving a previous transaction in the same place....pathetic. Reviewed on: 23rd February 2024

The call centre is based in the Philippines, and the cant communicate with the Chester Office of the bank, which appears to be virtual. This is a really poor set up for M&S to be associated with. Reviewed on: 15th February 2024

I was taken in by an online scam . My own fault , but M&S credit card refunded my money after contacting them. Cannot rate them highly enough. It was my own stupid fault, but they refunded me. Reviewed on: 25th November 2023

Automated payment service

I have had this credit card for about 6 months now and ever time I try to pay my bill I have nothing but problems with the automated phone service you put all your details in and you get this stupid code to put in and then it goes to customer service WHATS THE POINT OF AN AUTOMATED PHONE SERVICE IF YOU ARE THEN PUT THROUGH TO AN ADVISER THAT CANT UNDERSTAND OR SPEAK ENGLISH , absolute RUBBISH SYSTEM. Account Closure

Had a M&S card now for over 2 years with a low Credit Limit of £1,000. My Experian credit rating is 979 out of 999. I have always paid my card within the time limit. I have recently put £145. 00 on it which is the only expenditure this month. Just had an email closing my account with no explanation. This has not caused any hardship and I have paid the card off in full, however this type of banking could put legitimate card holders in a serious financial position. This situation should be looked at in detail. Reviewed on: 21st August 2023
