Good extras but make sure you get them!

Appealing joining incentive but I had to chase them to get it, and have had to make several customer complaints since regarding the reward incentive vouchers not tracking properly. Be warned, they take the "customer is always wrong" approach and it takes several emails back and forth before they accept you are right! If you're prepared to do that though there are some good bonuses to be had, especially if you shop in M&S regularly. Reviewed on: 7th February 2017

Avoid at all costs! Their customer service is beyond terrible, in 15 years of having credit accounts I've never had an issue and in 8 months with M and S bank I've had 3 major issues. They are also incredibly cryptic with their payment dates to trick you into getting missed payment charges - my statement was dated January 27th and said my next due date was Feb 19th. I paid on Jan 27th, the second I read the statement. To my surprise I have a missed payment charge, customer service say "oh the statement is issued on the 27th so you have to pay on the 28th onwards for the next statement". I've never know a bank issue statements that request money on a date that falls within the previous month's payment window. I also had an order arrive with 50% of the items missing but they only partially refunded me, so they essentially stole my money after having to fight tooth and nail to even get the refund in the first place. I am still waiting

I applied for an M&S credit card and almost a month later I am still waiting! I have no debts so it should be straightforward but after calling the customer service multiple times and waiting for 40 to talk to a call centre manger, nothing. I found this review page out of curiosity If there are other ones like me which proved that they are. I have already applied for another one if ever this arrives it will not be activated. DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS CARD !! Your bank people are hopeless call centre employees! Reviewed on: 22nd February 2023

Transaction tracking and rewards

The app shows clear transactions and provides notifications pop ups when a purchase made so yo can track spends and watch out for unauthorized transactions. Also provides rewards points on spends which then turn to vouchers to spend towards your m&s shopping Reviewed on: 10th January 2023

M&S Credit card - hard to register in app, Customer Service hard to understand

Really difficult getting the card set up on the app. Told me to do one thing then locked me out and told me to call Customer Service - spend 45 mins calling and talking to them - getting cut off several times. Told me to download the app set up DD-s but you can't. Reviewed on: 10th January 2023

Consistent issues and horrible to deal with

I wish I'd read the reviews before I got this card. I rarely use it because every time I do, issues happen. The app is shocking and the functionality is horrible, badly lacking and old fashioned. Every time there is an issue their chat function is so slow but doesn't have the option for a notification of their reply - if they ever reply. Their phone line is answered fairly quickly but the staff there are not really empowered to make any kind of decisions and honestly it would be easier to do it myself if only the functionality was there. Constantly Blocked Card

Their security is triggered sometimes three times a day, which means we spend hours and hours on the phone tying to get the card unlocked. The types of transactions they needlessly decline are everyday spending at Amazon, supermarkets, toy shops, Deliveroo etc. Nothing unusual. They don't call to say they are limiting the card. It just stops working randomly. And they have no explanation for why they are doing this. Items went out of stock, Christmas posting dates were missed, Deliveroo was not delivered. The inconvenience and disappointment is endless. Oh and the embarrassment of having your payment declined and people assuming you can't manage your finances. Joyful. Such a stark contrast with other banks we use, where everything just works and customer services are amazing. Needless to say, I will never, ever bank with M&S again. Reviewed on: 14th December 2022

Heres another bad review. The tech for their banking app looks like its from the web in the 1990s and it just is rubbish in comparison to almost any other card. Joke levels of credit limit compared to other card providers. Waste of time Reviewed on: 12th December 2022

Ever tried to get online with M&S Bank?

For several years I've tried to get online with M ans S Bank. Input card details and it sends out same messages "we have a problem" please phone following number. The number only had key in options, none of which addresses the issue. 0 out of 10. Only reason I've stuck with it is for vouchers.... Reviewed on: 30th November 2022
