Some excellent staff, but some very disappointing aspects.

Poor communication led to all sorts of problems initially- Mansfield insisted I split the title of the property before they would lend. Then, once split, they decided this was a huge problem because I couldn't grant myself access across my own property. (A brief summary of a complicated situation). This led to all sorts of problems and delays, and they were not particularly helpful. They didn't seem at all interested in helping sort out the problems they caused. Nichola, who seemed to just blame others, dealt with my case. I was asked how she was supposed to know I owned the surrounding land, as there was nothing on the paperwork to suggest this. A little odd, given that it was Mansfield who insisted on the split in the first place- how could I split it if it wasn't mine! She seemed to imply it was my fault- I feel it's not my fault that they don't share information effectively amongst themselves! Slow responses to emails, and errors like them putting the wrong number on a form took a week to correct. On the other hand, I found Shelley, and her colleagues in the call centre, very helpful, professional and swift to respond when assisting me with the redemption statement. The most helpful wonderful building society - Sophie was AMAZING

I've been with Mansfield for 3 years and throughout they've been so helpful and competent. Recently I've gone through a transfer of equity which is never an easy thing and everyone I've dealt with has been amazing, even when my solicitors have been a nightmare. I want to give a specific shout out to Sophie Cook who was so helpful. She was so kind and would talk me through the process, helped me with the application and wrote parts of it for me, escalating and communicating with the business when needed and also treating me with so much respect and compassion from end to end. I couldn't be more grateful and I now feel a sense of loyalty to Mansfield from this. I can't thank you all enough. Reviewed on: 21st September 2021

I had trouble getting a mortgage to previous bad choices financially which meant I struggled to get a mortgage anywhere else. And the Mansfield looked at me as an individual rather than just a credit score. Reviewed on: 16th September 2021

I have to say that everyone I have spoken to at the Mansfield, two separate ladies were both cheerful, friendly and competent. What more could you ask. The paperwork was manageable for a luddite like myself so was very happy. The only downside was the set up cost which seemed to me onerous. Reviewed on: 15th September 2021

The society was recommended by our Financial Advisor following an annual review of our finance needs and plans. I had never heard of The MBS prior to that but the mortgage offer was reasonable and rates have remained so over the years. Correspondence and statement have been clear and easy to understand and all telephone queries dealt with promptly and efficiently. Reviewed on: 11th September 2021
