Review of the MBNA, Credit Card:

Bombarded

I took out this out as my first credit card, as the sign up bonus was quote good. I didn't use it much but this didn't stop them sending me endless amounts of post re: balance transfer offers and other cards which i did not need at all. I got so annoyed with all of this spam I got another card and closed this one (which was a convoluted process in itself) and would never use them again. Reviewed on: 14th June 2016

MBNA PLEASE RE-TRAIN YOUR CUSTOMER SERVILE PEOPLE

1
"I am extremely disappointed with the service I have received from MBNA. The customer service representative I spoke to was rude and aggressive, and had no understanding of my issue. It is unacceptable that someone with such poor customer service skills is employed by your company. I recently signed up for a balance transfer offer from MBNA, which included 0% interest. I received numerous emails and letters from your marketing team encouraging me to take advantage of this offer. However, on the payment day, MBNA attempted to take the payment from an inactive Direct Debit, which I had not been warned about. As a result, I missed the payment and my credit limit has been reduced to the minimum. This will have a negative effect on my credit score, all due to your poor system and not my own fault. I strongly recommend that MBNA re-train its customer service representatives and put systems in place to warn customers when their Direct Debits are inactive or cancelled. Your lack of communication and poor handling of this situation has caused me a great deal of inconvenience and frustration." Reviewed on: 29th December 2022

tell me how this is a f***ing banking app but the option to pay off your balance isn't even on the home page? No, you have to hunt for 15 minutes just to pay off a damn credit card. Stop hiring people off the gd short bus. Reviewed on: 21st December 2022

Appauling!

I will never use this credit card again and certainly do not recommend. I have made 2 calls to clarify that I have interest free period. Was told I do. Statement comes through and interest charged. Called up and they tell me I don't have an interest free period. Phoned them to make a complaint they offered me a measley 10 pounds to withdraw the complaint! I'm taking this further and meanwhile transferring my balance onto another card. Fraud campany Reviewed on: 30th November 2022

Shocking experience, destroyed my trust in credit card companies

1
Was a victim of a flights scam and was made to feel stupid by MBNA who deemed me negligent and refused to refund my losses. Absolutely shocking service which has left me feeling ridiculed and and out of pocket. Avoid at all costs, I will be cancelling my card and going elsewhere. Reviewed on: 10th November 2022

Scam - would give zero stars if possible - Thieves

0% for 23 months was advertised as per all credit card companies that do the same. However, having gotten 2 months into the 23 months I have been charged interest. Upon making the complaint I have been told that you get 23 months 0% on the first 2 months purchases. Having used Barlcays, Santander, Sainsburys, Natwest and even their partner bank Lloyds I have never come across this. I was told it isn't a scam but I'm sorry it just is. Terrible experience

1
Absolutely terrible experience. Had fraudulent activity on my account, called to discuss with an advisor. One advisor said they could resolve the issue but when I called again a few weeks later to follow up, phone was answered by a different (very abrupt) advisor who continuously raised her voice and spoke over me. Was advised that MBNA can't help and I have to pay off the fraud. Also worth mentioning are the ridiculous wait times, I have tried calling several times over the last few weeks and have had to wait at least an hour every time for someone to answer. Not recommended. Reviewed on: 11th October 2022

Feel scammed

Only found out about their small print restrictions several months in. Do NOT use their interest free credit cards without reading ALL the terms and conditions! Will not be using them again Reviewed on: 6th September 2022

Account Cancelled

1
I received a letter stating that my account will be closed Oct. 31st due to lack of important information. I called and asked what was missing from my account, explanation was important information. I login monthly and pay my bill in full, not once was there a notice requiring any information. Not once did I receive an email or a letter explaining that something was missing. Anyways, good riddance, maybe I got cancelled due to paying my bill off in full every month and they did not make any money on me??? Reviewed on: 28th July 2022

Never, ever use this company.

My card carrier of 12 years transferred to MBNA 2 years ago. It was an awful experience from day 1 (especially since I did not CHOOSE them). From terrible customer service, to taking 6 MONTHS to mail me a new card after my old one had expired. I paid my balance in full last year because they seemed pretty shady. Most recently - in June 2022 I received a bill for the annual fee, which I paid in full and on time. Then on July 7th I received a letter from them stating that there was "mandatory customer information" missing from my account, and if it wasn't corrected by June 29th 2022 they would be closing my account. Today (July 19th 2022) I received a bill for $0.31... How can I be charged interest when I paid it down to $0 and haven't used my card in a year? Why am I getting a bill at all it my account is closed? How is it that "mandatory customer information" was missing from my account that I had for 14+ years?! Like I said, shady. There are so many better options out there. Shop around. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with this garbage company. Reviewed on: 20th July 2022
