Appalling Treatment From This Bank !

Worse decision ever made was to open a business account with this bank. We are a new business and on our very first transaction in from a well-known extremely reputable company and our account was frozen without warning ! Being a new business, we are relying on this payment to pay our staff, sub-contractors and expenses but are unable to do so. Numerous calls to the bank and even visiting the branch and still no-one can help! We then received a cold, callous signed letter from the Customer Services Director ‘AK” (I have the decency to not embarrass her by putting her full name) advising that Metro Bank are unable to continue to act as our bankers and are closing our account in 7 days’ time from the date of the letter. What is going on? We desperately needed to find out, locate this payment and make our payments for the work carried out. After calling the bank wanting to speak to AK, was advised that she is only contactable by letter! In this day and age? A letter? You can’t speak or even email her or a member of her team !

After speaking to several Metro staff by telephone yesterday, we were assured that if the payment was re-attempted, it would be reviewed and if they were satisfied, the transaction would take place. Brilliant ! As least we were getting somewhere. No such luck ! This payment has been rejected yet again.

The result of this action? The payment was returned a second time by Metro Bank to the well-known reputable company causing us further embarrassment and feeling of incompetence to our valued client. Our hard-working staff and subcontractors have not been paid which is extremely upsetting for both us and them, along with the unpaid expenses which may possibly affect our credit rating. Then to finalise this, as from next Tuesday, our company no longer has a bank account!

Metro Bank - No wonder your shares have recently plunged to all-time lows!

Setting up my first ever business account was done with ease, with the help of well trained accounts personnel who showed interest in me and my business, supported me through the process. Everything was transparent and without jargon. Also, when my card did not work initially, because the security code was blurred in the printing, this was sorted in next to no time. Best part is that I can pop into the bank any time of the week due to their customer orientated opening hours. Thoroughly recommend. Hope they open throughout the country.

Just spent £75 of billable time waiting to speak to one of their business people to ask a couple of questions - but to no avail as I had a scheduled meeting next with an actual start time so I couldn't wait any longer. You can, it seems, now book an appointment - wow, what an innovation - but only by going into the branch to book one, which is a 30 minute trip in the first place. It's clearly all designed for their own convenience.

Does exactly what it says on the tin

If you need a business acount quickly and you have the correct documents then they will open an account in a week. If a simple no frills account with no customer service is what your after then this is the bank for yiou.

Hi,
I just want to state that I had a delightful experience opening a Bank Account for our organization called Fraternity Without Borders UK.
The service was offered in a very quick and efficient way and to deal with all members of staff was a very different and good experience compared with other banks in London.
Mr. Ahmed Noor , one of the Customer Service Representative at Tottenham Court Road brunch was very straightforward and gave us a good experience in order to make the whole process very simples.
We are very very happy with the way he dealt with us and will definitely recommend this bank to everyone.

Metrobank advertise everything being done quickly in store. It wasn't. Took hours sat in store answering questions. Was constantly back and forth as they made mistakes with my application. The time taken to open an account with Lloyds was shorter and all done online at home. Setting up online banking has to be done in store?! Queueing in store is a waste of time without a ticketing system.

Will stop the account application tomorrow with immediate effect.

I received the tipical email, you have the latest statement.. I entered in the app and the money was in negative because they took the commission from every month, I have sent 5 online forms, and no one contacted me. For me "customer service" is help me on my needs, not give a big smile when I'm in their branch and then forget about me.

Shocking - i was looking for a place to write a review
Been with the bank for 6 months. They cant set up Payees on line. The charges are incorrect most months and the online phone APP would be better having a crayon and stone as its non where close to the Barclays app.
Its a shame i got all my customers over to the bank as it takes a lot of time to change banks and advise clients. but soon i will be ride of this backward organization. it wont be long before they are gone.
