If you’re eligible for an overdraft, the first £50 is interest free. The FlexDirect account has to be managed online or over the phone, not at the branch.

Proper Building Society

After only 6 months of having an account I’m getting £100 credited as a profit share on top of the £200 for opening the account in the first place. I don’t think a bank would do anything similar. Reviewed on: 31st May 2023

Fantastic, and always have been.

A customer oriented bank. I have 4 accounts with nationwide and their customer service is fantastic. Can be on the phone speaking to human in less than 5 minutes. Everything just works as it should and is easy. Endless direct debit options, no fees abroad, no overdraft fees, quick and easy account set-ups and access. Skip the other fancy banks and get a bank you can wholeheartedly trust to just treat you well. You forget how businesses should be these days, and nationwide is a profound reminder of how customer service should be. I recently received a £100 customer loyalty payment - yet another reward for basic loyalty. But why would I move elsewhere when they are so brilliant. Can’t recommend enough. I have been a customer of NatWest for the whole of my life and have never been disappoInted. Ethical banking for the people

I like this building society's ethics. Customers service is always very friendly and helpful. I really appreciated the 5% cashback on spending in February, March and April. The heavy use of card ready is a bit annoying but they've been taking steps to reduce the amount of time the card reader is needed Reviewed on: 10th April 2023

Decent, responsible banking

I have been a Nationwide customer for many years. It's a solid, responsible, easy to deal with building society and I much prefer having a current account with them than the other major banks. The staff are well trained and helpful. The App/tech is well designed and easy to use. Also, they're not investing in horrible things - no arms deals or fossil fuels. So it's a winner all round.
