Very poor. Tried to open an online account. But could never put funds into the account. When I did speak to someone they said I had to post information to them. It was an online account. They just wanting us to use more services. Gave up and asked for account to be closed Reviewed on: 16th April 2024

Mostly solid

Good, had a competitive interest rate and I mostly had no issue with the account. Website was very basic but did the job fine. The only issue I had was when I tried to withdraw for the first time (did not even let me take out a few pound) - the website kept producing an uninformative error that told me to try again later. I had to call up to get the "lock" removed (after which withdrawals were no issue and were credited to my nominated account usually the following morning) which was fairly painless and the person who helped me was pleasant. If there is a danger of you needing to take out money, I would recommend trying first when you don't urgently need it to sort out this "lock" thing: I've seen other people talk about it and had more urgent situations than mine. "easy access" savings account with no access to your savings

1
Several months after opening an easy access online savings account and depositing a significant amount of money, I attempted to make a withdrawal, only to be presented with the message "TRANSFER CANNOT BE APPLIED AT THIS TIME" On calling the 0800 number provided I was told that there was a technical fault with my account and "there's nothing I can do".... I filed an official complaint which was effectively ignored with the response "The complaints team is not trained to deal with such complaints" I remain unable to access my savings or close the account and my only course of action now would seem to be via the financial ombudsman. Abysmal service

Paid several thousand into my POFS account via linked bank account 6 days ago - still no sign of it in my POFS account. The phone help line just replays a 'transactions are being processed' message. Absolutely dreadful/slow online system. Beware! Reviewed on: 22nd August 2023

Incompetent system failures

1
Trying to open a joint online savings account: I got all the way through the application process with no problems to the very end, when I was asked to provide a 6-digit security number for each of us. The number simply would not enter; no matter what I tried it would only take 3 digits and no more. If I tried to accept the randomly-generated number offered by my browser, it reduced it to two or one digits. With no other way forward I got on the phone and described my problem (which I had to explain several times). The assistant suggested I try refreshing the page. Unfortunately when I did that I lost the two User ID numbers we had just been given, as a blank screen came up saying 'We are experiencing a technical failure'. I asked the assistant if she could access the User ID numbers for us, but she couldn't. She suggested sending out two security numbers by post, so we had to wait 5 days. When they arrived, of course there was no ID number on the letters, so I was still unable to access the account to set them. I got on the phone once more, and the assistant suggested I at least look at one of the security numbers by peeling off the black strip. Second problem: There is no number there. They have sent out two sheets of A4 paper under separate cover, both with a plastic strip with a black pattern on it. I thought I might start again from scratch. But now the system has our details it is asking for my security number. I tried clicking on ‘Forgot login details', but that will just involve waiting another 5 days for another pair of blank sheets of paper. So we will put our money elsewhere.
