Ages to set up - now can't make a deposit!

1
It took two day (and my calling them) to run the legal checks on the information I provided them. It took a further four days (and my calling them) for them to issue me a six-digit security number Trying to make an initial deposit of £1.00, their website is far from intuitive as to how to do this, but I eventually discovered the bank account details to where payments should be made - only this account is not supported by my bank (HSBC) and I have been warned b HSBC this may be a fraudulent account and website.. Somewhere between HSBC and The Post Office / Bank of Ireland, there is a massive impasse and I'm just the poor sod trying to sort out where and how to initiate a workaround! Extremely disappointing - would rate as 0 stars if possible

I attempted to open an online savings account on 17th March. Received an email saying they they were completing security checks and would be in touch once these were completed. Contacted them via phone 2 weeks later having not heard anything and was connected to a cdll centre in India. I was told paperwork would be posted to me. This was surprising considering it is an online only account. As of today I have still received anything. If this is the lack of service provision before I have even opened the account I would not trust this organisation either my money. In contrast, I recently went through the stich process either Nat West and I cannot fault them. Extremely impressed and I have since opened a savings account with them. Their App is so easy to use and online support is responsive and very helpful. Would highly recommend. Reviewed on: 30th April 2023

Unacceptable

I opened a savings account however after 2 weeks of trying their online saving website was still down. The number given was very busy and the hold wait was over an hour. Reviewed on: 9th April 2023

Dire service

I opened my new Post Office savings account yesterday. After providing my personal details and receiving account information back, I was lead to a log in page. The log in page would not verify my details. I called the help desk and was told that I was trying to log in too soon as my account wasn’t on the system yet. I received an email asking me to log in and make a deposit this morning. Yet again, I couldn’t access it. I called help desk and this time was told that I had failed the verification questions and the operator could no longer speak to me and call back to speak to another operator. I called again, got an Indian call centre with a lady with poor English. Still no joy. I have decided that with all the choice of different banks that I would have to be crazy to sign up to a post office account and all it’s problems.. I have asked the post office to remove all of my details from its system. I could never recommend the third rate bank to anyone. Reviewed on: 23rd March 2023

So far so good

I opened an account online before seeing these reviews. Once read I was very concerned. I instructed my bank at 4pm Monday to pay in and the money was there the following.morning. So no problems with delays for me Reviewed on: 8th March 2023

Useless

How ironic that the post offices never opens their mail. Terrible customer service. Avoid at all costs Reviewed on: 3rd March 2023

Terrible

1
I opened a savings account with the Post Office online as the interest rate is good. I deposited £10 just to see how quickly it would arrive. I transferred from my Starling account which uses faster pays, transferring instantly or within 2 hours. Hours passed, then days. No sign of the money. Post Office subsequently emailed me saying I hadn't deposited any money into my account (and that I should). But I obviously had tried to. So after 4 days, I called their customer services and I was told they don't support faster pays and I should wait at least 5 working days "check next week" as they use a different banking network (Bank of Ireland?). This terribly poor in this day and age of instant payments. And worse they emailed me asking to deposit when I already had tried to. The website to manage your account is awful, slow and clunky. Should have been upgraded 10 years ago. All in all a poor experience. I'll be closing my account as soon as my money appears and I can withdraw it. Fingers crossed that's not a palava. Online savings, easily inaccessible.

2
Marketed as an easily managed online savings account with attractive levels of interest from the small start of £1. It is indeed, very to easy to deposit the funds to start your savings journey. However, though. These funds are not so easily accessed. Despite boasting "access to your" savings whenever you need them. I found it was not the case, I merely sought to test the transfers into and out from the account. Whilst transferring money in, was almost instantaneous. Retrieving the funds was a lot more difficult. I spent around two hours combined time looping through the menu's or on hold. Due to around 18 days of "unable to complete the transaction at this time". Finally the situation was resolved by the "technical" team. As this account cannot be managed by phone (nor online initially). Was soured by the experience. When the situation was finally resolved, after Christmas and NYE I might add, I immediately closed the account. I've heard the instant saver is ok I would steer clear of the online saver though. The online service portal is basic and doesn't offer as easy access as the post office website claims. Be warned. Reviewed on: 4th January 2023

Post office savings experience

1
I have held an account with Post Office savings for about 10 years. A bond recently matured but I was unable to move it to another PO bond without reapplying and providing the data again. All online which is usually straightforward with other organisations. However this would have taken at least 5 days. I was told twice online that my application was unsuccessful and also I had no linked account which was incorrect. After the weekend I spoke to an extremely unhelpful lady at PO savings who was just not interested and quite rude. I decided to close the account online with no success. I phoned back and spoke to another very helpful lady who organised this for me. The service provided is not user friendly and with other organisations I have been able to move money easily without resupplying data they already have. I will not be using PO savings again. Avoid unless you like headaches

I've had the misfortune of having an account with these people. Their online service is abysmal. You can't even see your account number when you login. Then when you call the first thing they ask you for is your account number. Staff are unhelpful and the couple of times I've called their systems are not running so they can't answer any questions. They then ask you to write in and take 20 days to respond. Their responses don't address the questions you have asked so you have to write in again and waste another 20 days. Utterly hopeless. Just avoid. I closed my account because of their extremely poor service. Reviewed on: 21st October 2022
