NEVER AGAIN!!

NEVER AGAIN! Having called RAC at 18.40 and receiving a text to say someone would be with me at the latest 19.45 no one appeared. Then told 2-3 hours as they were exceptionally busy turned into being 12.40am & finally towed at 1am to my nearest garage. The company RAC subcontracted to was 10 mins down the road from me....galling!! I was left in the middle of nowhere, completely rural in a dark dangerous lane, too dangerous to walk in the dark, with no water or toilet. When my husband managed to get home some 4 hrs later, as that was who I was collecting when I broke down, he was able to drive his van from home and sit with me. Unacceptable level of service and it is very apparent talking to others about my experience I am not alone and they obviously are overpromising and under delivering! upon sending a complaint email, they gave a standard lip service apology and closed the case. My request was a refund on our policy as they did not uphold their constant promise splashed across the media and when they sell you the policy that they would reach you within 2 hours. Plus I never want to be left in such a vulnerable position again! Having heard a number of peoples experience in my locality this is not a one off! Some have been left in terrible situations with young children and others were not reached until 23 hours later having spent the night in their vehicles. Incredible lack of customer care. Even at busy times RAC you should be able to cover your obligations. No stars for customer service who kept fobbing me off, no stars for how you dealt with my complaint. That one star is for the sub-contractor that finally turned up who really is nothing to do with your company!! Seriously concerned for anyone who breaks down and are with RAC in the South Devon area. Opted out of auto renew, refusing to refund

Opted out of the auto renewal due to new policy price being too high. Spoke with RAC on the phone, confirmed cancellation. RAC proceeded to debit my account for the new policy and refuse to reimburse me the full amount. Customer Service are rude and refuse to acknowledge the mistake on their end. Absolute waste of time and money

Absolute waste of time buy elsewhere Absolute waste of time. What’s the point in being covered for all vehicles and one day when you help out driving a friends company van they won’t help out just want to sell you another policy. AA no issue. Have cancelled my policy as this isn’t the first time I’ve been let down by the RAC they stranded myself and son for over 8 hours 2 years ago. Reviewed on: 1st August 2024

Wouldn't honour valid policy.

Wouldn't honour valid policy. They will weasel out of your policy in any way they can to charge you more. After a terrible week of saying goodbye to a loved one my car broke down and they wouldn't collect it unless I paid over £100 more despite having a valid policy.They will let you down Reviewed on: 6th July 2024

Avoid using RAC at all cost, I would have been left for 12 hours in -3 while in the middle of Wales if it wasn't for the traffic police. Also onward travel is a joke and don't answer the point. To make this better they also lost my car on the way back home taken it to the wrong location. Complaint made to RAC who advised there's nothing they can do. Would highly recommend using another recovery company.shocking service and even worse feedback. Reviewed on: 6th June 2024

Awful customer service department.

Awful customer service department. I am still awaiting a resolution of my complaint that was raised over 6 weeks ago. I was misled into purchasing a premium battery from RAC at great expense and was told to reach out to their customer service department by their own engineer as he said they should address the issue given the circumstances. However, 6 weeks on and still no resolution from RAC customer service. They asked for evidence to be sent of the engineer selling the battery which I have said I will send to them, however, now they are attempting to avoid my emails and refusing to accept the evidence to be sent. I will continue to chase a resolution to my complaint and have notified independent dispute resolution services. Reviewed on: 3rd June 2024

Punctures NOT covered

I've been with them maybe 10 years now and I don't think I've had one call out. I got a punchure by hitting a stone and was told that it's driver error so your not covered. This is despite thier T&C saying that they do come out for punchures. Grim!! Reviewed on: 26th May 2024

Your service is a joke,

Your service is a joke, firstly you send a guy who charges me money to add brake fluid which made no difference to the issue, but as he never tried to move the car he didnt know if he had fixed it or not I then called for someone to come again, and it was getting later and later so I called again and said come in the morning - which someone eventually did past 10am - he was also trying to say it was ok until I insisted he meoved the car to see the issue - he then agreed it was undrivable and took it to the garage to get mended I called the next morning to get onward travel as I pay for and was told that I was too late is has to be done within 24 hours of the original call - which would have been impossible because it took longer than that to get someone to agree the car had an issue - I argued this and was told after some time I could have a car On hearing from Enterprise they have no cars avaliable today - which is not true as I could book a car with them direct from the same location online with no issue - when I called and spoke to onward travel - after another long wait - am told tough luck if there is no car avliable I just have to wait until there is one Why am I paying you - probably if i hadnt driven the car after you first engineer said it was ok then the problem would have been less bad, plus I have to argue to get any service and then Im left high and dry with no car JUST A JOKE I want to cancel this service because there is NO service given Reviewed on: 24th April 2024

Waited 6 hours and then left stranded

Yesterday I broke down 16 miles from home. I had to wait 6 hours for the RAC to come out. The guy did a diagnostic on my car and then checked my oil level. There was to much oil in the car so he told me he had to stop and could not do anything else for me. He just left me there. This is the customer service level you will get from the RAC.
