1st April 2026 .can’t rate them LOW enough!!

1
1st April 2026 . Had a tyre blow out on A226 . Reported to RAC at 16:30 . Told them that myself and husband were disabled pensioners and I was insulin dependent diabetic and we had our 6 yr old severely autistic grandson with us. Was told that it would be priority and someone would be with us by 18:30. That changed to 20:15 then to 22:30 after several calls we were very distressed . My daughter had to travel 100mile return journey to collect my grandson who by that time was extremely upset. We were told that someone would definitely be with us by 23:00 . No show, another update eta 0:30 am to 04:00 am 2nd April. My daughter had to take me to local A&E as my glucose had dropped dangerously low .Left husband with car as our insurance would have been invalid. After several escalations and empty promises The RAC eventually recovered my husband and vehicle at 15:15 today 2nd April . 23 hours. Later by side of road. They offered no explanation of how they could explain leaving 3 vulnerable people including a vulnerable child exposed on a high speed road for 23hours! I am recovering now from bad hypoglycaemia and my poor grandson is still stimming and extremely traumatised by this experience. My husband is exhausted and also lost a days wages work today and is also a recovering heart surgery patient. The RAC were told this repeatedly yet still abandoned us for 23 hour! How can anyone possibly recommend them. Can’t rate them low enough!! Reviewed on: 2nd April 2026

Very positive Renewal Experiece.

I recently renewed my R.A.C. Breakdown Cover. The RAC Call Taker was called Ezan based at Bristol R.A.C. Office. Ezan was one of the best Call Takers I have dealt with and I would appreciate it if my thanks could be conveyed to Ezan and his Supervisors. Reviewed on: 25th March 2026

Driving on a motorway got the alternator light came...

Driving on a motorway got the alternator light came on immediately pulled out next junction and stopped the van . called rac and the so called con mechanic turned up telling me that my alternator has gone which i already knew !!! i asked him to take me to my garage but he insisted he will give me a new battery .. i told him i don't need a new battery my one is completely fine what good is a new battery when your alternator is not working??? he told me a new battery should drive me 30 miles so i could get to my garage i asked him who pays for the battery?? he insisted twice it was for free cos rac will save more money on throwing a new battery rather towing me to my garage. fair enough and worried enough if i could make it to my garage without an alternator!!! three days after i receive an invoice for a new battery for my van for £311!!! why would i need a new battery(if i need one i will get one for £100 from anywhere) when i need an alternator??? they complete scumbags misleading con artists !!! stay away from this people . i will cancel my membership straightaway this way i can save some money !!! WORST COMPANY EVER

1
Auto renewals scam. I thought I signed up for 2 years & am still paying 4 yrs later. Got sent letters threatening legal action and massive fines because apparently I owe them £53. The operator was very blunt & just kept saying I signed the contract. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Reviewed on: 2nd March 2026

Left overnight for over 15 hours in my vehicle.

1
Left overnight 15+ hours in my vehicle without heat, light or power. Repeatedly given expected times of attendance that did not come true. RAC tried to get me to pay them over £1000 as I was towing a trailer even though the recovery policy specifically covered it. RAC tried to get me to arrange my own recovery. Eventually walked off the A1 and found a Railway Station to escape. Reviewed on: 2nd March 2026

AVOID....RAC TURNED SCAMMER

1
Rang RAC due to puncture. RAC quoted mid-range tyres and was quite expensive but then mobile fitter cam and fitted budget tyres. RAC blamed mobile fitter company and vice versa. To me, the RAC who had quoted the tyres and organised the whole process by liaising with the mobile fitter should take accountability for their actions. Bisggest SCAM ever!!! Absolutely shocking, avoid at all costs

1
The service I’ve received from the RAC has been extremely poor. On two separate occasions I’ve had to cancel call-outs due to excessive waiting times. A few weeks ago my car broke down at a petrol pump. I waited for an unreasonable length of time with no meaningful update, and eventually had to call someone I know to come and help instead. Yesterday my car would not start at home. I contacted the RAC at 12pm and was given an initial attendance window of 2:30pm to 5:30pm. At 5:30pm, without explanation, this was changed to 6:30pm to 9:30pm. By 8pm I had already waited so long that there was no point in the call-out continuing, so I cancelled. This morning I submitted another request at 7:30am and, as of 1:45pm, I am still waiting for assistance. The lack of reliability, repeated delays, and poor communication have made this an incredibly frustrating experience. Based on these repeated issues, I would not use this service again and would not recommend it to others...... It is now 16.45, despite talking with them on multiple occasions and being assured I will have a call back and a technician sent out I have yet to receive either of these things. I have requested a full refund as I have yet to receive any form of service from them. Reviewed on: 20th February 2026

I would give it 0 stars if I could!

1
I would give it 0 stars if I could! I had an extremely disappointing experience with the RAC following a breakdown. I was left stranded for almost 24 hours despite reporting the issue promptly. The tracking links sent to me didn’t work, so I had to repeatedly call for updates — and each time the arrival time changed. Recoveries were arranged, cancelled and reallocated without clear communication, even after my situation was escalated due to personal safety concerns. I was alone, far from home, and felt completely unsupported. In the end, I had to arrange and pay for private recovery myself just to get home safely. To their credit, the issue was eventually reviewed at a senior level and I was reimbursed for my costs along with additional compensation. However, the overall experience severely affected my confidence in the service. Breakdown cover is something you rely on in vulnerable situations — and unfortunately, when I needed it most, it simply wasn’t there. Reviewed on: 17th February 2026
