Difficultly claiming cashback offer

2
I opted for RAC breakdown cover due to a special cashback offer via the Quidco website. They were offering an excellent deal with the cashback which made me decide to take the cover. However I had many issues trying to claim the cashback and quidco blamed the RAC. I was also very unhappy to find out the auto renew the membership. Reviewed on: 24th December 2015

Good Service - But Get Cashback

4
My family have always been with the RAC, so when I recently took ownership of my Dad's old car I followed the tradition and signed up with them as well. Not only have they been very prompt when we've needed them in the past (my family doesn't have a lot of luck with cars), but they also have a policy to prioritise women who are stranded on their own. I'm sure that this is something that the AA and Green Flag also do, but it's good to know that should I get a flat tyre one evening then I won't be left stranded on the road in the dark for several hours while waiting for help. The only thing I would recommend is that if you decide to go with them, check one of the cashback websites for a deal, I got a good £40-odd cashback, which really made a difference to the kind of cover I decided to get, and made it an excellent deal overall. Appalled by their dubious business practices

1
Be aware of RAC's very dubious business practices - they will auto-enrol you to be able to repeatedly take money from your credit card. I moved house and they managed to get over £250 from me before I realised what was happening. Despite not having used their services ( or even realising I was a member!) they have a very standard refusal to provide any refunds which is clearly designed to protect their income. Avoid joining the RAC and if you are a member check they haven't tied you in to their auto-renewal scam. Reviewed on: 5th November 2015

Good professional service - best prices are for new customers / through Tesco vouchers/

4
The RAC as you'd expect has a good level of service. When I needed them broken down on the motorway, they arrived promptly, repaired the car quickly and gave good advice on what to ask my local garage to do. In some ways frustratingly, you can get great deals as a new customer - especially if you're familiar with topcashback or quidco. Subsequent years' deals aren't so good. You can play this system slightly by changing each year (say to and fro with the AA). If you have enough Tesco Clubcard vouchers you can also get discounts year on year though. (Look at their Clubcard Boost section online). Reviewed on: 16th August 2015

Broken down even for a flat tire.

4
I was driving to work one morning and my car shuddered and slowed to 5mph. I managed to get to work and the RAC came out straightaway. They were very helpful and polite and the guy did a thorough inspection of the car whilst he tried to repair the problem. He spent, what i felt was a good amount of time on the car. This is the 4th time i have had to use them and would always recommend them over others. Reviewed on: 26th March 2015
