DO NOT USE RAC BLACK BOX FOR YOUR INSURANCE nearly 2 hours on a chat to amend and add business insurance which cost £25 just to get the quote, plus amendment fee, if you want to speak to someone over the phone its £35 plus the amendment fee. Reviewed on: 13th October 2026

Highly recommend RAC for car insurance

We have been with RAC motor insurance for 2 years now, unlike many companies, they didn't massively hike the price for year 2. Plus we get breakdown cover and other benefits included. RAC were easy to contact and very helpful

Cancellation costs are a joke

Sold the car a month after renewing insurance. They want £90 in fees plus £93 for 4 weeks insurance to cancle on a £30 per month policy. Discusting. Customer services were useless, there only responce was "we can refer you to debt recovery if that helps" Don't use them if your planning on changing your car. Reviewed on: 16th September 2026

Be aware of £45 cancellation fee

Be aware of £45 cancellation fee, which on a self-managed online policy feels excessive. When changing my car, their new quote was around £300 more than any competitors, making the cancellation fee feel like a money-making exercise rather than a genuine admin charge. Excellent Insurance Cover

This year I got RAC car insurance which included breakdown cover for a very reasonable price. I chose them because of my son's experience with their breakdown cover which he says is second to none. Reviewed on: 20th August 2026
