Review of the Sainsburys Bank, Home Insurance:

Insurance delays

1
After suffering a leak in my home I had to contact Sainsburys insurance 3 times - each time getting a different set of instructions of what to do next. After THREE MONTHS the adjuster came out and told me it was straight forward and that he was going to write up his estimate. Soon after I get an email saying that they are transferring my claim to an investigative adjuster - when asked why, I was told it was because of my Post code which seemingly has a higher number of claims that normal. It is now 8 months since I submitted the claim and the claim is no where near complete. the adjuster has also said that he will only pay for works completed and invoiced which means I am going to have to pay out of pocket and claim the money back. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE Reviewed on: 2nd June 2022

Sainsbury's Home Insurance: Avoid like plague!

1
Sainsbury's Home Insurance: Avoid like plague! Lies upon lies. You can not cancel the policy! They do not pick up the phone! If they accidently pick up, they will put you on hold straight away in case you want to cancel or opt out the renewal! There is no email to complain or opt out or cancel the renewal! You Must Go to Your Bank and Tell this to Them well ahead of time of renewal and they will stop any payment in the future. You must block Sainsbury's Home Insurance call centre because they will harrass and threaten you with bad credit score and sorts of crap. Do not let them talk as they do not let you talk to them when you needed. Same Rule Applies to All!!! Reviewed on: 30th September 2024

Rip Off Renewal Avoid

1
Renewal note for 16 October 2024, Home and Contents, 9+ years NCB. Last year £343.54 this year £1027.07. What a disgusting rip-off, avoid. Reviewed on: 29th September 2024

My renewal is due beginning of October 2024.

1
My renewal is due beginning of October 2024. Been with them 5 years no claims nothing. Now decided to drastically increase my premium. Rung up this morning the worker very unhelpful just told that's the price take it or leave it. The price is non negotiable. So much for rewarding loyalty. Just another company jumping on the bandwagon with their prices Reviewed on: 23rd September 2024

Competitive prices, but....

4
Competitive prices, some things you can do online but otherwise any queries or complications you need to call up their call centre. That's not always proved helpful even with simple queries and they can't or won't provide an email address which would save hanging around on the phone. If you have more than one policy (I also have car insurance) then in theory you can link policies so details appear in one place. In practice, i've had to use two different log ins and email addresses (one my wife's) and it took a complaint to get a simple issue resolved in order to log in for both policies. It would be great if customers were rewarded with a discount for giving extra business, but not the case in having two policies with Sainsburys. Reviewed on: 27th August 2024

Extra out and about cover

4
I took the insurance out last December but recently wanted to make sure a new iPhone would be covered so had to speak to a representative. They were very friendly and knowledgeable and the difference I had to pay for £2,000 cover was only £2.62 until the end of my policy. Reviewed on: 24th August 2024

No trust in Saisbury

1
Thought I was insured with Sainbury which, I trusted. Two years into my policy I found out I was insured with Pretige Broker, could never login, Had no details about my policy. This year telphone, well before my policy ran out, I requested documents to be sent to my home with in days not weeks, he quoted me a price approximatley £300, when the last day of my insurance was due I had to ring in, price jumpped to £600. Made a complante to CEO of Sainsbury he just kicked it into touch. Prestige is terrible to deal with, when I eventually got a document to show who I was realy insured with it was a Belgium company, not protected like UK. Reviewed on: 24th August 2024

Just a seamless experience and always willing to negotiate on the renewal price. Reviewed on: 24th August 2024

renew quote increase 230% with no claims made

1
renew quote came through with price nearly 2.5x previous year (no claims made). When I reran quotr as new customer price increase was about 30% which is what I would expect. Unable to contact Sainsburys via phone to find out why. Reviewed on: 22nd July 2024

Unacceptable service

1
Very frustrating. We have a flood claim that has been approved and agreed which has been running for 8 months. we received an enquiry reg the age of the property after agreeing the settlement figure. We now cannot get a response from the loss adjuster and are completely in the dark and have been for 6 weeks.. I tried talking to Sainsburies for some assistance. But as this element of their process is contracted out, they're not interested and wouldn't even register a complaint Reviewed on: 14th February 2024

Phoned the line for bereavement. - Don’t bother

1
Phoned the line for bereavement.. needed to change my dads name over to my mothers on a joint bank account. I have power of attorney as my mother is old & deaf. Every company was brilliant except Sainsbury. They do nothing y use the access codes & required a copy of the death certificate & copy of power of attorney & to say their attitude was short was an understatement ( yes Gillian at Glasgow). & person previous. The worse company I have dealt with considering it was a name change of a joint account. Reviewed on: 15th January 2024
