Review of the Sainsburys Bank, Home Insurance:

9 Months and waiting for claim to be settled

1
My husband and I had our house broken into overnight whilst we slept - back in March. 2 Cars stolen (covered by separate insurance companies) - we also had a small number of items taken from the kitchen - handbag, purse, iPad and iPhone that were charging in the kitchen - 9 months on we are still waiting, we have provided all of the information we needed, photographic evidence, receipts etc.. at first the claim was denied, they said that there was a clause that there was no forced or violent entry - locksmith and police stated that they had entered by putting their hand into the cat flap and un-locking the door. The non-forced/violent entry clause was only applicable if the house had been empty for 60+ days. WE WERE ASLEEP IN BED!!!! They have passed us on to a claims handling company Davis Group - an absolute disgrace. 9 months later they are still giving us the run around, saying they are waiting on a copy of the policy report - we provided case number and Police Officer details who attended - why did they not do this 9 months ago. THEY ARE A DISGRACE - DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM THEM Reviewed on: 30th December 2024

Anybody there???

Do you actually exist? More than happy to take my money but called to claim today and after 45mins couldn’t get any answer or if they did answer told me that my insurer had changed. Called them. No sign of my policy. Eventually got cut off. Appalling!!!! Reviewed on: 4th January 2023

Renew Policy

1
Renewed my policy with Sainsbury’s home insurance after being with them for 3 years, but after 7 days I realized I had not received my policy, even though the money was taken from account. Phone them to chase where my policy was as it never arrived by email. After checking there system I was told that they couldn’t find my policy, and they couldn’t figure out what had happened. Totally disgusting as I paid in the usual way and money was taken out of my account, and if I didn’t chase where my policy was I would have been uninsured with them if something may have happened. Best of all they said they will credit me back the money and I can take the same policy but after having a require the price shot up a further £80. WONT BE DEALING WITH SAINSBURY Home insurance AGAIN, very very poor service, advised agent to get management to contact me over this issue which I’ve not heard from anyone even after 3days. Reviewed on: 27th December 2022

Reported to the FCA for misselling insurance.

1
Absolutely disgusting. Provided an IPID at purchase stage summarising everything would be covered and water damage would be covered. In the actual policy schedule they’ve worded it completely differently and it’s excluded. Two documents with two pieces of conflicting information. Scumbags who have robbed my parents blind. Rot in hell. Reviewed on: 20th December 2022

100% Price Hike

1
No claims made but 100% price increase for renewal. Going elsewhere and will never use Sainsbury's again. Do they not realise it damages their brand reputation not just for Sainsbury's bank but the supermarket and fuel stations? Reviewed on: 4th December 2022

First make your judgement based upon the reviews

Though you are able to cancell a policy within the 14 days of the cooling off period there is a an admin charge of £20 deducted from the return of premium. Not all companies make such a charge. Best to research & do your home work first to avoid this expensive mistake Reviewed on: 27th October 2022

100 % hike in home insurance

Absolutely Disgraceful

1
I am absolutely disgusted with Sainsbury's. I contacted customer service, if that’s what you can even call it!! Due to me being very poorly I missed a direct debit payment, I spoke to them 4 times in a day. I asked if they could possibly wait one week for my payment. They had even sent me a text message saying that if you are experiencing difficulty to call them and they will help and sort out a payment plan or add the payment onto the next monthly payments. I asked the girl on the phone who she had spoken to to ask if they could help? Did she speak to someone on Teams? Her reply was “it’s none of your business!” Excuse me, I am the customer here, she kept over talking me and was extremely rude. Sainsbury's have not treated me fairly at all! They are cancelling my policy and I have even advised them of my circumstances. I asked to speak to a manager, the girl said well you can’t! I raised a complaint and I was told well it won’t be any good because you won’t get a reply for eight weeks and your policy will be cancelled today. Please do not take out a policy with Sainsbury’s. They do not have any customer care whatsoever! I came off the telephone and I was in tears from the way I had been treated and spoken too. Reviewed on: 24th August 2022

How do you prevent renewal?

1
I cannot stop these crooks renewing. The renewal premium is £150 more than the market average, and I want to go elsewhere. But it seems impossible to do this in my on-line account, and of course if I call their phone lines, they're always experiencing an unusually high volume of calls and my phone times out after an hour. You can't email them, you can't reply to their emails or text messages, you can't find a postal address to write to them. They are total crooks. Reviewed on: 25th June 2022
