Insurance delays

After suffering a leak in my home I had to contact Sainsburys insurance 3 times - each time getting a different set of instructions of what to do next. After THREE MONTHS the adjuster came out and told me it was straight forward and that he was going to write up his estimate. Soon after I get an email saying that they are transferring my claim to an investigative adjuster - when asked why, I was told it was because of my Post code which seemingly has a higher number of claims that normal. It is now 8 months since I submitted the claim and the claim is no where near complete. the adjuster has also said that he will only pay for works completed and invoiced which means I am going to have to pay out of pocket and claim the money back. A cancellation joke

After being with Sainsbury home contents insurance for some years I needed to cancel it due to personal circumstances. How surprised I was to be told that to cancel it, I HAD to pay £50 for the privilege...a complete joke.. it worked out that it would have been cheaper to have continued paying for over a year than cancel my insurance... be careful to read the damn TERMS AND CONDITIONS... setting up fees that you also have to pay to cancel are a joke... I did that myself ONLINE!!! I will make sure that none of my friends or family EVER choose Sainsbury bank facilities. Au revoir... Ciao.... I won't be back!!! Reviewed on: 20th January 2023

Past from pillar to post

On the phone over two hours when I got through to covea was spoken to in a very unprofessional way by the man who was coming out to access the damage of my soft furnishings saying there are people far worse off than me where the ceiling has caved in on them I explained I had multiple sclerosis and was over come with smoke inhalation his attitude was very abrupt so I cancelled my claim. Do you actually exist? More than happy to take my money but called to claim today and after 45mins couldn’t get any answer or if they did answer told me that my insurer had changed. Called them. No sign of my policy. Eventually got cut off. Appalling!!!! Reviewed on: 4th January 2023

Renew Policy

Renewed my policy with Sainsbury’s home insurance after being with them for 3 years, but after 7 days I realized I had not received my policy, even though the money was taken from account. Phone them to chase where my policy was as it never arrived by email. After checking there system I was told that they couldn’t find my policy, and they couldn’t figure out what had happened. Totally disgusting as I paid in the usual way and money was taken out of my account, and if I didn’t chase where my policy was I would have been uninsured with them if something may have happened. Best of all they said they will credit me back the money and I can take the same policy but after having a require the price shot up a further £80. WONT BE DEALING WITH SAINSBURY Home insurance AGAIN, very very poor service, advised agent to get management to contact me over this issue which I’ve not heard from anyone even after 3days. Absolutely disgusting. Provided an IPID at purchase stage summarising everything would be covered and water damage would be covered. In the actual policy schedule they’ve worded it completely differently and it’s excluded. Two documents with two pieces of conflicting information. Scumbags who have robbed my parents blind. 100% Price Hike

No claims made but 100% price increase for renewal. Going elsewhere and will never use Sainsbury's again. Do they not realise it damages their brand reputation not just for Sainsbury's bank but the supermarket and fuel stations? Reviewed on: 4th December 2022

They have made my life a nightmare. Gave me anxiety and they mis-interpreted the information i gave them and turned everything against me to suit them. Preparing ombudsman complaint now. Reviewed on: 25th November 2022

Though you are able to cancell a policy within the 14 days of the cooling off period there is a an admin charge of £20 deducted from the return of premium. Not all companies make such a charge.
