Review of the Scottish Power, Boiler Cover:

Customer services hung up on me three times when cancelling policy

1
Appalling customer service. I have had a boiler service appt cancelled and moved.... then on the 2nd appt they called 45 minutes before the end of the 5-hr morning appt slot to say he was "off sick" and couldnt come out.... then on the 3rd appt it was a complete no-show, no calls, nothing. Phoned the main number to cancel poilcy and calls "dropped" when making the complaint. Really upset and angry as they've taken my money, cost me 2 half-days pay and now not bothering to provide customer service. Reviewed on: 25th April 2023

No Customer Service available !!!

When signing up to ScottishPower's boiler insurance, Scottish Power confirmed to me by email that I am insured. But when I wanted to claim, it turned out that my insurance account was not even set up. They lost my insurance sign-up. It took me approximately 10 emails to their Customer Service, but they constantly refused to assist me. Finally, I got offered a £100 compensation and they assured me: "We will take this on board and make sure that the relevant changes are made to the customer service." This assurance obviously did not get acted upon, because their customer service even worsened from then on. Subsequently, I did not even get any reply at all to 4 out of my 5 emails to Scottish Power's Customer Service. This is a failure rate of 80%. Reviewed on: 8th September 2024

Shocking and dishonest.

1
Shocking and dishonest. Will use any excuse to rid themselves of a customer that has an older boiler and avoid the cost of contributing to a new one which is the cover I had for years. They only want to cover new boilers under warranty. So what's the point? Reviewed on: 14th March 2024

Shambles

Appalling service, easily the worst ever. Useless, incompetent, untrustworthy, poor documentation recording. From my experience they would have difficulty boiling a kettle. Multiple problems with them rectifying problems, plumbers unable to resolves issues. Had a fault which was eventually noted and recorded on receipt. Informed part would be ordered, two weeks later I called them and they had no knowledge of the issue, even thou was recorded on my copy of paper work. Was charged for a call out, the cost of the part and boiler developed lack of pressure problem weeks after when heating was used. Pointless insurance Reviewed on: 4th December 2023

Left my 94 yo aunt with faulty boiler and blamed it on her! They're poor and not appropriate for elderly people, find someone else.

2
After initially diagnosing a change in gas pressure for a fault they finally agreed after a week that it was indeed a fault which they fixed but left the boiler with a broken timer. The engineer blames the 94 yo for it not working. We've had third party conduct regular checks and it is indeed faulty but they just argue with me over the phone so having it repaired by local engineer. Go with someone else, they're not competent. Left without heating and hot water for many days

Took boiler cover from Scottish power. Contacted them when it broke this winter. Had one visit but the job wasn’t done properly and next day boiler didn’t work again. Called Scottish power again, new appointment was booked for next day. However, they cancelled the appointment without contacting us to explain the reasons for cancellation. When we contacted them again they told us that our boiler has got problems with isolation. We were very surprised as the boiler only 4-5 years old and worked well before without any problems. The young engineer Scottish power send didn’t have a clue what he was doing constantly calling his office for an advise. However, he managed to get the boiler work but only for a few hours. When we contacted Scottish power to complain we were told it need to be done via internet and not verbally. The consumer service adviser, Rachel, was very rude and did not call the manager on our request. Terrible company, avoid!!!! Reviewed on: 26th January 2023

Not refunding my money

1
I called them for emergency boiler repair with a contact number they provided for emergency repair. The lady took my insurance information and £99 as the excess payment. It was after taking my money that she told me there is no emergency repair available and I need to wait 3 days for the engineer. I requested to cancel it as I couldn’t wait that long in the coldest time of the year and I asked for refunding my money. She told me it will be refunded in 3 working days. I called them 5 more times to chase the refund and each time they told me they have done it so it will be refunded in 3-5 working days. I’ve never received any refund and the company happily rubbed me! Avoid this company as they are literally stealing your money with no shame… Reviewed on: 30th December 2022

They screwed up our heating (twice). And won't fix.

1
Twice engineers from the subcontractor (jones assist) have come out to look at a minor problem. Twice they have left us in a worse situation (no heating once, an incorrectly wired controller the second time). Now they are refusing to fix. I didn't expect to be paying for a service that left me in a worst situation. Genuinely terrible. Avoid. Reviewed on: 27th October 2021

Caused Water Leak into my Newly Decorated Bedroom!!!!!!!

1
AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! Domestic & General are a bunch of cowboys. We had a leaking overflow pipe. Called Scottish Power Boiler cover helpline and they said it was defiantely covered under my policy, and they would send someone out. the man arrived, went up in the loft, came back down and said he wasn't a plumber, but had checked it and it was all fine and now not leaking and it was to do with the cold weather we had been having. Two days later i noticed a huge yellowy brown patch on my newly plastered and painted bedroom ceiling!!!! When my husband went up in the loft, the overflow pipe had been removed from the tank, and the water was instead leaking into the loft instead of the pipe. Phoned them up and complained only to be told it was our word against his, but nobody else had been up in the loft. Will never use these people again, i wish i had seen all the bad reviews about this company on the internet before i allowed them in my house. now have to repair the damage they have caused, am furious!!!! Let them in at your own peril Reviewed on: 24th February 2021
