Review of the Tesco Bank, Car Insurance:

Well managed and competitive.

5
Tesco Boxins insurance is a really well managed and competitive product that has not let me down. Their black box is not intrusive or annoying and I can actually see the reduction in my quote. They remain unbeaten on price for me and I look forward to continuing with them. Reviewed on: 25th August 2024

STAY WELL CLEAR

Stay well well clear from this absolutely terrible insurance company! Had non fault accident 7 months ago, to this very day my vehicle is still damaged, they have left me with no hire vehicle and the company they use FMG services will give you false and mis-leading information til you loose the plot and give up. My vehicle has been sat at garage since last year xmas, i am now in process of selling it damaged and taking a huge loss. I have complaint to TESCO and FMG with no avail., i pay over £500 a month for this insurance have now canceled it, will never ever use TESCO again and will never recommend to any1. I have voice recordings of call handlers being argumentative and telling lies after lies. Quite possibly the worst experience i have ever had with a company. Stay well clear else you will learn the hard way like i did. Reviewed on: 14th March 2025

They have had my vehicle for over a year trying to fix it, I've had to hire a car so far it's cost me 8k plus, and I've got the Financial Ombudsman involved, 13 months and still not repaired, what a joke of a company, avoid at all costs Reviewed on: 10th March 2025

Tesco auto-renewed my car insurance policy without my consent. I believe auto-renewals should be prohibited by law. Martin Lewis always advises us to compare policies annually, so it’s baffling why auto-renewals are still an option. They should be banned. The policy was also overpriced. When I contacted them the same day to cancel and informed them that I sold the car 10 days ago, they told me I would need to pay a £25.50 cancellation fee. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience Reviewed on: 4th March 2025

Avoid Tesco Car Insurance Terrible Experience!

1
Avoid Tesco Car Insurance – Terrible Experience! We had our car stolen in September 2025 and went through one of the most frustrating and stressful experiences with Tesco Car Insurance. Despite providing all necessary documents and details, we were constantly passed back and forth between Tesco and their third-party investigation company, with both looking for any excuse not to pay out. For seven months, we were left without a car while raising a one-year-old. We had to rely on Ubers and borrow cars from friends and family because we couldn’t afford a replacement straight away. The lack of support from Tesco only made the situation worse. Every time we called, we were met with excuses: • “We’re missing this information.” • “There are inconsistencies in what you say happened that day.” In January 2025, they finally sent an investigator to our home. He confirmed that everything seemed straightforward and that our claim was valid. Yet, despite this, Tesco still refused to resolve the claim and continued to raise further “concerns” and questions. Tesco Car Insurance has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. Their handling of our claim was completely unprofessional, and their customer service was nothing short of appalling. If you value your time, money, and sanity, avoid Tesco Insurance at all costs. Reviewed on: 21st February 2025

Been with these for 8 months now, but now found a cheaper policy elsewhere, but tesco want to charge me £222 to cancel. Apparently they go by mileage. My limit was 6000 and i have not reached that, but they reckon its done by the amount of days the policy has been running! Absolute ripoff when your paying £250 a month already! Poor service and support when you need it most!

1
My car was taken from my home, and in an accident. I have spent two weeks trying to hear basic information about the progress of the case and what will happen next. I just keep hearing the same thing, we haven’t looked at the case file yet. The car was recovered by the police and placed at a recovery centre, each day I am recurring extra costs with no decision or information from Tesco. I am calling them for information and have heard nothing. They are still taking money out of my account for a car I don’t have and no one is telling me anything. For such a reputable company, the claim department is letting them down shockingly. Reviewed on: 16th January 2025

Avoid at all cost

Worst experience ever had me paying 330 a month with a black box there customer service is very poor i would highly advise to avoid Reviewed on: 16th January 2025

I am extremely disappointed with Tesco Bank Insurance.

1
I am extremely disappointed with Tesco Bank Insurance. After being a loyal driver with 12 years of No Claims Discount (NCD), I made a claim following an unfortunate accident. Not only did they significantly undervalue my car when processing the claim, but they also slashed my NCD from 12 years down to just 3 years! This feels incredibly unfair and unprofessional, especially as I’ve never had a claim in over a decade. Their customer service is unhelpful, and they seem more interested in taking money than providing fair and transparent services to their customers. I expected much better from a well-known insurance provider. If you’re considering insuring your car with Tesco Bank Insurance, think twice—there are much better options out there that value customer loyalty and offer fairer claims processes. Absolutely not recommended. Reviewed on: 8th January 2025

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

1
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Wouldn’t waste your time or money I was paying £220 a month for insurance on my Range Rover evoque that was stolen without keys I reported this to Tesco 3 weeks ago now and still haven’t been offered a settlement figure even though the vehicle was found I’ve had phone calls from copart asking if I have the key to the vehicle the same key Tesco have already made me post back to them! No settlement figure yet my cars already in a salvage auction! Leaving me to feel as though Tesco have currently stolen my car and all the money I paid for it! I also payed extra on top of this for a like for like curtesy car at the point of reporting the claim I wasn’t even offered a curtesy car the next day I had to ring Tesco again only to find out they’d not put all the details through so I still couldn’t have a curtesy car I had to argue with Tesco and there curtesy car company for 2 days to have a curtesy car brought out twice they promised me it would be there on that same day and wasn’t and even when I finally managed to get one brought out they told me they was unable to honour the like for like I paid extra for TESCO USE A FRAUD INVESTIGATION TEAM CALLED ROBERTSON & CO THIS COMPANIES ONLINE REVIEWS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES CHECK THE COMPANY ROBERTSON & CO OUT FOR YOURSELF FIRST! Tesco have claimed they can’t do anymore for me until the Robertson and co report comes though this company in question have strung me along for 3 weeks claiming every single day my report will be reviewed regularly being rude to me down the phone or putting the phone down! MY VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT IN CASH AS MANY ARE IVE ALREADY PROVIDED THEM A WRITTEN INVOICE THE SELLER GAVE ME! This money came from me and my partner selling my Audi A1 and his Ford focus WE NEEDED A BIGGER CAR DUE TO BEING A FEW WEEKS OFF HAVING A NEW BABY this company in question are demanding I provide them bank statements for these cash/Facebook marketplace sales clearly this is not possible when they were private cash sales THIS COMPANY ARE MAKING US FEEL AS IF THERE MAIN PURPOSE IS TO PREVENT ANY PAY OUT FOR THE THEFT OF OUR VEHICLE TESCO HAD ALREADY TRIED TO FORCE ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK THE SAME WEEK IT WAS STOLEN! SO IS THIS JUST ANOTHER WAY FOR THEM TO AVOID PAYING YOU OUT! Me and my partner both have severe mental health issues and these have massively deteriorated since this incident and claim we also have two children one of them being severely autistic my poor daughter was petrified of having that car back after knowing someone had stolen it she felt unsafe and in danger she also needs structure with her being autistic the lack of curtesy car prevented her from being able to attend school our baby was also due jabs at the doctors Tesco did not care one bit about this WE HAVE NOW BEEN FORCED AND LEFT WITH NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO ASK TO CANCEL THE CLAIM AND HAVE OUR VEHICLE BACK BECAUSE BOTH COMPANIES HAVE NO INTEREST IN DEALING WITH US APPROPRIATELY OR OFFERING US A SETTLEMENT THE AMOUNT OF PAIN WORRY AND STRESS THESE COMPANIES HAVE CAUSED ARE GENUINELY NOT WORTH IT PLEASE AVOID SAVE YOURSELF ANY HASSLE Reviewed on: 19th December 2024
