Disappointing Experience with Tide Bank

I must say that my experience with Tide Bank has been nothing short of a nightmare. This is by far the worst bank I have ever encountered, and I feel compelled to share my frustrations. First and foremost, I lost my card and promptly reported it to the bank. However, when I discovered that someone had used my card for two unauthorized transactions, Tide Bank showed no interest in helping me recover my money. Their lack of support in such a critical situation was extremely disheartening. Another glaring issue with Tide Bank is their absence of a notification service. Most other banks offer real-time notifications for card transactions, providing customers with peace of mind and security. Regrettably, Tide Bank falls short in this aspect, leaving their customers vulnerable to potential fraud. Furthermore, their handling of direct debit notifications is utterly inadequate. It seems like they do not prioritize informing their customers about incoming debits, which can lead to unexpected deductions from accounts. The customer service experience at Tide Bank is abysmal. If you have a complaint and decide to reach out via message, be prepared to wait nearly 48 hours for a response. This kind of delay is simply unacceptable, especially when urgent issues need attention. To top it all off, Tide Bank blocked a transfer from a company that had paid me for my work, causing significant inconvenience. Their excuse? A vague explanation about a "system issue." Waiting nearly two days to access my hard-earned money due to their internal problems was incredibly frustrating. In summary, I strongly advise anyone considering Tide Bank to think twice and explore alternative banking options. My experience has been marred by a lack of support, security features, and efficient customer service. Tide Bank is a financial institution to avoid at all costs. It's payday for our employees and we can't access our bank. Tide froze it with no notice 'for safety and security'. Won't release access under any circumstance. Hiding behind usual 'could be a scam!' crap - impossible to make progress with them. 3 days and counting and now the business can't operate and the staff can't make rent. Registering for a Tide account was a breeze, the process was simple and self explanatory, I was accepted promptly and received my new bank card within a few days. The only downside is they don't print business name on the bank card but your personal name. Otherwise they offer great value and rates above and beyond other what other banks offer and the app is great makes managing everything so simple and easy. Reviewed on: 27th February 2025

By far, this is one of the worst banking services I have ever used. My experience has been poor from the start. They had the audacity to keep incoming payments pending due to internal processes, although I had provided the required information multiple times to multiple advisors. This resulted in financial implications for me as an individual. The worst part came last week when I realized I was completely unable to make any payments. My funds are currently inaccessible—no card payments, no transfers to my personal account, and no ability to pay invoices. Thousands of pounds are stuck, and I have been chasing this issue with multiple advisors for the past four days. It turns out that the team supposedly responsible for resolving this only works Monday to Friday. At no point have I been given a timeline for when I can expect this to be resolved, nor have I received a clear explanation as to why it happened. The only response I get from agents is that they are "chasing it for me." Furthermore, I now risk late payment fees, as I have been unable to move funds from my business account with Tide to cover direct debits linked to my personal account. I am incredibly dissatisfied with Tide and their service. They have wasted my valuable time with unnecessary bureaucracy and a complete lack of efficiency. As a business owner, time is critical, and Tide has proven to be anything but business-friendly. Their customer support is unhelpful, the account setup process is unnecessarily complicated, and the overall experience has been frustrating. Tide claims to cater to businesses, but my experience suggests otherwise. I cannot recommend Tide to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient banking service. We have operated a Tide Ltd Company account for over 2 years, today without any prior notice or giving a reason they closed our account, one week before Christmas, we had payments going into the account today rejected, and staff to pay for Xmas etc in the coming days, in my opinion this is not a proper bank, they do not offer any services that a normal bank do, customer service is non existent, the only time they contact you is when trying to upgrade you to a more expensive option, their messages service is useless often taking hours or even days to respond I would advise to avoid at all costs.
