Awful experience

I applied to tide with a £80 incentive offer. The account took 3 weeks to open. Support was non existent and after using the account for a few months, paying their extortionate fees for just receiving money into the account. I never got the offer money and they denied that I qualified for it. Untrustworthy and awful value service. Reviewed on: 14th January 2026

Beware Tide can freeze your account

Beware of using Tide for your business. Tide have frozen my account without offering any reason, or engaging with me to resolve any issues. I have offered to provide any information they might require, but they have refused. It is now 2 weeks, and my business is now in danger of having to close. The worst customer service with Tide.

I have two business accounts with Tide. The last five days have been pure hell after they paused my business accounts without notice. There’s no one to actually speak with and conversations are via chat app only. It’s been the worst and most frustrating experience of being in business for over 20 years. Apparently there was a security risk they were alerted to by a client of mine that was delaying payment for an outstanding invoice. There was no warning, no explanation and I had to find out when my card was declined and I couldn’t accept payments or make payments. 5 days of auto generated replies and being pushed form one AI bot to another with the same generic answers. The stress has been unbelievable and even after providing ID and evidence on my part they couldn’t tell me what was going on. I must have spoken to 10 different chat people all with auto generated replies. It was only when I rung their fraud team and said they were incompetent and had frozen my accounts causing me loss of business and that I would be seeking compensation and reporting them to the Financial Ombudsman that they unpaused one of the accounts. They said I had to show evidence that my dispute with a client was resolved. There was no dispute and the client had deliberately caused a security alert to delay paying me what they owed. I would avoid this bank at all costs as this is the second time this has happened and to compromise a persons business and livelihood is totally unacceptable on every level. There’s no customer service and you’re treated like a criminal with no support and left with anxiety and stress whilst they have control and power over your finances without due cause. There’s very least you would expect is to be supported throughout a security check. Almost on the brink of a breakdown with these bunch of unprofessional idiots! Reviewed on: 9th July 2025

I needed to export transactions to CSV for the purpose of my accounts. Seems like a simple task right? Previously I have been able to do this both on the mobile app and website, until recently I reported this via the live chat over a week ago, after a 2 hour response time, I was provided steps to do it but the options they given were not available.. so the agent asked me to send a screenshot, which would be ok but the app doesn't allow it. You would think someone working in support would know this about the app they are supporting? After back and forth they asked me to update the app and restart my phone, after trying this it still did not work, by this point the chat had ended Tried again to open their chat and do it again but I had to start from step one of the agent asking the same questions, eventually running out of time as I don't have a whole day to dedicate to pushing them to fix the issue. The response times are hours apart sometimes My 3rd attempt was unsuccesful as they taken 5 hours to reply eventually at 1:00am in the morning which is quite normal for people to be asleep at that time I'm on my 4th attempt so far, been waiting for half an hour and have to press a button to stop me being logged out every 10 minutes So poor, I would have cancelled my account by now but the transactions are essential to my accounts Reviewed on: 29th May 2025

They have frozen the business account and all the money that the account was holding because of "security reasons", but the problem is that they are blocking the whole account because they have to check one transaction. Today it's a payday for my employees and I need to pay some other companies and I can't because they froze all the account rather that freeze only part of the money that then needs to check. Ithe customer support it does NOT offer any support and they don't care. As a business owner it's crucial for me to pay my employees and keep the business running instead they don't care. Terrible experience and as soon as they unfreeze the account I will move the money out instantly! Terrible terrible experience! I had to pay one employee from my own personal account because they were relying on the salary they were going to get.
