Review of the Acorn Insurance, Car insurance:

Avoid like covid

Left my sister for 4 weeks now without a vehicle after a 3rd part crashed into her car and leaving it in roadworthy. Try and call them and they do t speak they just hang up. When you do speak to someone you get passed to someone else who doesn't have a clue. After 4 weeks we have got more response from the 3rd party involved. These guys don't care. 4 weeks of pure stress!!!! Avoid them. They just want your money. Reviewed on: 21st May 2021

Acorn insurance disposed of my car without consent.

Acorn insurance disposed of my car without consent. My friend had a policy on one of my spare vehicles which I was a named driver on, he stated he was the registered keeper which was incorrect. The car was stolen recovered in November of last year, 5 days ago (April) he received an email informing him the vehicle had been classed Cat B and was sold/disposed of (they won’t disclaim this info) I had no involvement up until 5 days ago after being forwarded this email as I wasn’t the policy holder. They will not discuss anything with me, it all has to go through my friend but blame me for not contacting them earlier to inform them it was my vehicle. The truck is worth £8000 and they said they claimed ownership once my friend started a claim with them. I am baffled how my vehicle with purchase receipts and a V5 in my name has been sold by Acorn insurance and I am supposedly due nothing… Reviewed on: 7th April 2025

Terrible Service with Months of Delays and Excuses!

1
My experience with Acorn Insurance has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I was involved in a car accident in October 2024, and since November 2024, it has been a saga of miscommunication and delays. Acorn Insurance has consistently given me conflicting information and failed to expedite the necessary repairs. The situation reached a new low when their approved repairer was unable to fix my car, and the main dealer provided a detailed repair cost estimate on 11th February 2025. It's now March, and Acorn Insurance still hasn't resolved the issue. They claim they are waiting for their Engineer to approve the repair, leaving me in limbo for weeks. To make matters worse, during my numerous calls to follow up, one of their staff members had the audacity to suggest that it's my responsibility to negotiate the repair directly with the main dealer. This completely contradicts their role as my insurer and adds insult to injury after months of their inefficiency. Overall, Acorn Insurance's handling of my claim has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their lack of urgency, poor communication, and shifting of responsibilities onto the customer demonstrates a total disregard for their clients' needs. I would strongly advise against using Acorn Insurance based on my deeply unsatisfactory experience. Reviewed on: 13th March 2025

Acorn insurance having cancelled my policy on line for a much cheaper car insurance by half the amount took money from my account. When I chased it up they claimed that the policy want cancelled on line which it was with ironic proof of my new policy evidenced they ignored the information presented. They charged me approximately £459.00 for the privilege and I had to pay off £40 per month. This was back in October 2024. It gets better I have to ring up each time to pay the instalment on my to be told last week that I doubt need to pay anymore as the balance is now £0.00! Something is not correct here so I am pursuing the complaint but reputation wise this is incredibly poor as I have not received anything in writing to confirm why the apparent sum owed was written off. They certainly didn’t contact me before my call!!! Reviewed on: 21st February 2025

I had a crash on the 27th of January and my insurance company told me they’d pay out for my crash as we was going through the details of my crash they asked if I’d changed my job and I told them I had changed it and they informed me that they would have to contact the broker to get this changed they told me they are 95% sure the broker will approve of this job and I would have no issues. Baring in mind my car is currently at a garage in storage so each days it’s there it’s costing me money. I then was told co part are picking up my car on the Thursday. I was then told my car was a total loss even though no one had looked at my car. I then had an email saying my insurance had been voided due to misinterpretation. I contacted them and they told me they could give me a reason why they wouldn’t approve of my job it wasn’t there place to say. So I was passed around for 1 hour to find out why and still had no answer. I waited until Monday 3rd February to contact the garage about my car to see if I could pick it up because my insurance company have cancelled on me. The garage told me I couldn’t pick it up till I paid £1347. So I’m now left with a crazy sum of money to pay because acorn told me to leave my car at the garage because they’d sort it for me. So before picking this insurance company I’d think twice this is my first car and my first insurance company and they just vanished as soon as they could so they wouldn’t have to pay out for my car Reviewed on: 3rd February 2025

Absolutely shocking customer service

I have had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with Acorn Insurance, which I feel compelled to share. My car has been in the garage for a gearbox failure since the 26th of August, 2024, and I got it back on the 6th of September. Unfortunately, I had to return it to the garage on Thursday morning due to further issues. During this time, the garage had been driving the car and speeding on multiple occasions, which led to two black box speed warnings on my insurance. To clarify that I wasn’t driving during those dates (from 26/08/2024 to 06/09/2024), I went to my car dealership to request a formal letter on headed paper. Although they couldn’t provide a physical letter, they sent me an email confirming that the car was not in my possession during that period. However, Acorn Insurance dismissed this email, stating that "anyone could fake an email," despite the fact it came from a VAT-registered garage and a reputable dealership. To make matters worse, Acorn also refused to accept the email because the garage had been speeding in residential areas. This is despite the fact that the black box data clearly shows that the car was parked in a locked garage forecourt awaiting repairs during those times. I sent this information to Acorn Insurance on the 9th of September and did not receive any response until Friday, 13th of September. When they finally called, it was just 20 minutes before their offices closed. To my surprise, they gave me a cancellation notice that takes effect in 7 days. With only 5 minutes left before they closed, I was unable to do anything to resolve the issue, which was incredibly stressful as I am only three months away from earning a year’s No Claims Discount. I believe the way I have been treated by Acorn Insurance is completely unacceptable. From dismissing legitimate evidence to their delayed and unhelpful response, this has been a nightmare. If the issue is not resolved by Monday at 5 PM, I will be escalating my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. Reviewed on: 14th September 2024

Do not use this company !!! My sons first insurance policy with a black box fitted cost £480 deposit , they cancelled his policy 3 weeks later due to us missing a call from them , i called them up to ask why they cancelled the policy , they said validation issues , bear in mind I’ve spoke to these people 3 times in 3 weeks plus took photos of the car with black box fitted , did the validation on the first call , no issues with my sons recorded performance so no warnings there, I’ve repeatedly asked them for a reason as to what needed validating and no reason given , I’m now very concerned that My son won’t be able to get car insurance in the future due to this cancellation on his record , the poor kid has done nothing wrong , no speeding , no night time driving , no passengers , this company have done nothing but harass him and stress him out , I wish I had done my research and read there reviews beforehand Reviewed on: 9th August 2024

Acorn car insurance

1. Had car insurance for Vauxhall Corsa 1.6 Diesel, approx. £2,400.00. Changed to a smaller Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Eptrol (SO, SMALLER ENGINE), and insurance was recalculated to £200.00 MORE (£2,600.00). 2. Changed to a CHEAPER insurance car after doing research. ONLINE MECHANISM would NOT allow me to change the car online. . .in the end, cancelled car insurance with Acorn and switched to esure. 3. Have received a generalised email from Acorn about cancelling, and no indication of any refund (I had paid the year's insurance till January 2025), so am due at least 4 months refund. . . Avoid this company

I do not recommend this company, I had to pay fees of £66.00 to change the occupancy, I know it's not much, but they canceled my old policy and opened a new one without notifying me, I changed my car and address during the policy period with other companies and I never paid any fees Reviewed on: 30th July 2024
