Review of the Admiral, Travel Insurance:

Well priced annual multi-trip cover.

Well priced annual multi-trip cover. I fortunately have not had to claim so can't comment on that. Seemingly pretty comprehensive with many bolt-on options. Very quick and easy online purchase on a well designed website. Reviewed on: 28th February 2025

Massively drawn out claim process, 3 months in and my claim has not been reviewed.

My child's travel cot was crushed and destroyed in transit in October as a result I put a claim into the admiral "Platinum Cover" travel insurance through their Web portal. On submission it states that my documents will be reviewed after 30 working days.. 44 days later they reviewed my documents and then asked for further spurious documents such as a hand written letter from my mum confirming that she bought the cot for my daughter. The claim now needs to sit a further 30 working days before they will review again... Suspect that they will then ask another question and I will be asked to wait another 30 working days. The strategy is clear and simple.. Extend the claim as long as possible until you give up. As a result we will now have to purchase another policy before we travel, I have no confidence that if we had an emergency we would be covered by admiral travel insurance. Please be warned. Travel claim 6 months and counting

I had my phone stolen and also had to change flights due to me getting covid in july 2022 - in feb 2023 70 emails & sooo many phone calls later I still do not have a finalisation - total claim is about £200 - outrageous - I complained to their quality assurance dept. and got a"sorry" payment in November 2022 - now all the emails i have are being rejected - THIS COMPANY IS TERRIBLE AT CLAIMS DO NOT USE THEM Reviewed on: 1st February 2023

Awful treatment

I'm still waiting on a claim from 5 months ago, it was finally confirmed they would pay out and I received an email 5 days later saying their management had rejected the claim. They are all greedy and will not help you if in need. Never EVER get this insurance. End of. Reviewed on: 31st January 2023

No return on web feedback. Site glitch can never claim. Recorded phone voice says not handling cl.aims 'today'

Beyond woeful, couple annual travel insurance was £300. Cheap on comparison websites . GREAT if you want to part with a few hundred pounds but of no value at all in case of claim - you WILL NOT be able to get as far as making a claim. OK we are all responsible and all need travel insurance but this is just paying the cost of a return flight so you 'feel' good about getting cover, it is illusory. No response in 16 days from "48 hours"web contact option - of course they bat you away from telephoning at every opportunity. There, a recorded voice tells you they will not be taking claims today. No direct e-mail option other than donotreply@ ones. Can see nothing but long arduous way of the ombudsman being forced on us by Admiral by end of this week.. Give a homeless person your £300, it will feel just as good as wasting it on Admiraql, and leave you no less likely of getting help when you desperately need it Reviewed on: 29th December 2022

A waste of money and high safety risks

I will not tell you to do not choose this insurance, as it is cheap and you think it is worth, but if you really want to be safe during your travel, supported and covered for real, AVOID ADMIRAL as if something happens actually during your trips, you're in a big financial trouble. I made 3 claims back in April, to realise in September that they cancelled all the information I had uploaded saying they never received. So I uploaded the files again in October, to discover again, they deleted some of them again. Why? Their policy is to have 30 working days to verify your information, so each time with this cancelling trick they push the date of revision till the policy ends and you will never see your money. Be careful! Reviewed on: 21st December 2022

Absolutely Useless. DO NOT USE

1
Beware this company if you hope they'll have any appetite for settlement of a valid insurance claim. My partner and I both contacted COVID on our Italy holiday in July this year. On return to UK, we promptly uploaded documents evidencing the impact supporting a one week extension to our holiday to await the all-clear to travel home. Here we are in December (5 months later) and still no progress in settling claim for approx £2500. This company make it very difficult to find someone to talk to. They require you to upload documents in limiting file format. On 4 instances now with 6 weeks elapsing between each review and rejection cycle, they've advised documents as too blurry, not able to be read and any excuse not to progress matters. We strongly feel their shoddy approach is designed to put the claimant off, hoping they'll give up the claim. I've escalated the issue as a formal complaint to their Quality assurance review team and intend to make further representation to the UK's insurance ombudsman. I'd strongly advise anyone never to purchase insurance from this company. I beggars belief on how badly we've been treated. Reviewed on: 16th December 2022

Rubbish service, they don't do what they say they will do

1
Useless. Had a dental problem that meant I couldn't travel and they took over 6 weeks to tell me they needed more information, even though original claim explained everything in great detail. Avoid. I wish I had. Reviewed on: 9th December 2022

Avoid

I have been back and forth with this company for over 5 months regarding a very simple trip cancellation due to covid claim. The same documents have been requested multiple times and each request for a new document is more weeks of waiting. I have responded to all requests promptly. Eventually I received confirmation my claim would be settled. This was over one month ago and I have still not received anything despite having phoned them to chase them up. It is too difficult to contact them to find out what is going on. My travelling partner who used a different insurance provider submitted exactly the same initial documents and had her claim approved within 2 weeks without any questions or fuss. DO NOT USE ADMIRAL TRAVEL INSURANCE - WORST SERVICE EVER claim from July 2022

1
They have refused to cover most things - cost of having to buy new air ticket when flights were cancelled, cost of replacement stolen passport(£100), stolen euros , cost of food and accommodation to stay extra 2 days while we wait for emergency passport to be covered, costs incurred to change return flight home, .. so what do they cover?? Then you send the documents by email, then they want them to be uploaded on a portal that sometimes doesn't work., then they still ask for the same documents you have already uploaded!!! is this a delaying tactic??? do not waste your =money on admiral travel insurance Reviewed on: 27th November 2022

The most traumatic experience

1
Such a traumatic experience! I’m currently having a miscarriage, I have seen a doctor who wants to do further investigation but the completely incompetent staff at admiral haven’t signed it off yet. To get an ultrasound and blood tests it will cost us the equivalent of £700, of which I already paid at the first appointment when I initially started bleeding. My husband has been on the phone to them for a few hours each day for the last 4 days. They even told us to go to the hospital and then they didn’t sign off on the treatment. It’s just disgraceful. We’re chasing them constantly and they just give us more questionares to fill out. This is there emergency support. Please be ware, do not get travel insurance with them as you will not be covered in an emergency. Reviewed on: 11th November 2022
