Review of the ASDA Money, Pet Insurance:

lengthy wait but otherwise good experience

when our dog became ill we didn't hesitate authorising and paying for all the treatment, when it came to making a claim the process was simple enough. I had read reviews and to be honest wasn't confident about any of the claims being paid out. we sadly lost our dog shortly afterwards. it took almost 2 months for the decision on the claims and all were paid out less excess etc. we did have our last claim which I hadn't bothered submitting however we did submit this. I had continued with paying the insurance as I read that this would need to be paid for the full year ( we, were paying monthly). the last claim alerted the insurers to our dogs passing. we received a lovely email sending their condolences, and a further email advising that they had taken care of cancelling the policy and a refund was on its way, again not what we, asked for or expected. yes the wait was long for the claims to be settled, however once the first one was done the rest were done In days, we hadn't chased these up much as to be honest we didn't really care by then, however, maybe if we had it would have been done quicker. What a complete rip off company and waste of space Asda animal insurance is. I took out insurance in August 24, filled in my form and clearly stated my dog is a jack russsell terrier. I made a claim in November 2024 when my dog started expressing symptoms of Arthritus and i was paying over £100 per month for treatment. They came back with a refusal as said it was a pre existing condition that was noted in June 2024 before i took my insurance out. Arthritus was never mentioned in June 2024 and my vet even confirmed it was never mentioned until November 2024 in a letter. They then put my premium up as said i declared my dog as a medium cross breed and not a jack russell terrior! I told them i would never write that my dog is a medium crossbreed when asked his breed so this was changed on my form with out my permisiion. It means i now get ripped off by a premium by asda each month because they changed my form and because they said my dogs illness is a pre existing condition despite the vets letter im paying for a service that will not help when i need it. I went to the finantial ombudsman to help but he was a complete jobsworth too, both companys are not fit for purpose and i will now be cancelling my insurance this evening. Would NOT recommend Asda Pet Insurance

Was sold what I thought was comprehensive cover for an aging dog. Premium increased significantly in a year just made a claim and only received a small amount because of ‘T&C’’ when have impression are covered for more. Is difficult to predict everything, and make decisions on complex policy terms. Should not be this complicated- feels like been taken for a ride when am an honest person who just wants the best for there pet. Will be looking else where. Reviewed on: 12th May 2025

I so wish I had read the reviews before my experience. My dog has been diagnosed with arthritis which is a long term illness, they have said that it is a pre existing condition because I gave her Yumove. Honestly, biggest scammers I've ever come across. Reviewed on: 7th May 2025

Stay well away from Asda Pet Insurance.

Stay well away from Asda Pet Insurance. Our dog unfortunately was ill back in November 2024, it is now March 2025 and we are still waiting for our claim to be sorted. The service provided is terrible, whenever you call them about the claim they just give you the basic answers "it being assed sir" nothing else. I find it an absolute disgrace that it should that a quarter of a year for them to process a claim, even more so when I am being charged so much money per month for the policy, mainly due to our dogs age and a previous cliam. DO NOT USE ASDA PET INSURANCE I submitted a claim early November for vet treatment for my dog. It has still not been reviewed. Every time I call for an update I am told they are short-staffed. DO NOT USE this useless company NOT interested I have never claimed off them until my pedigree Cat had to be put to sleep in November 24 he had had numerous tests n scans trying to find out what was wrong as he wasn’t old the results were shocking nothing could be done.You just think thank god I’ve got insurance the bill was just over £4.000 which we’ve paid ourselves it’s nearly 8 weeks it’s like trying to get blood out of a stone when you’ve lost a family pet you really don’t need all the upset and ringing for updates is a waste of time all they say is we have a back log and they’re not interested.Ive logged a complaint so let’s see what happens next. ASDA money pet insurance is a scam.

ASDA money pet insurance is a scam. 3 months on and they are still assessing a claim. I have given up. If I even get any payout from them I will be surprised. I am not renewimg and moving on. Forget it don't use ASDA money, you may as well light your money on fire. Reviewed on: 17th January 2025

Unacceptable delays in claims settlement

My cat had treatment 0n 15/16 October 2024 and a claim submitted on 1 November 2024. Here we are halfway through January 2025 and apparently my claim is "in the queue to be assessed". Despite sending several emails asking for an update I only ever received an automated reply saying they would respond in 3 - 5 working days (for that read NEVER!) I finally made contact via the online chat which is where I was given the "we are very busy at the moment and apologise for the delay" excuse by the unfortunate customer "service" person. I do not recommend this insurer and as soon as my claim is resolved I'll be cancelling both this and my dog's insurance policy with ASDA Money. I have also lodged a complaint about the delay and the very poor communication, although I doubt it will make any difference! Reviewed on: 17th January 2025

Shocking! Look elsewhere for pet insurance.

Shocking. Put a claim in for vets bills when our dog took in in October 2024. It's now January 2025, and the claim still hasn't been reviewed. Tough time over Christmas, as the vets bill was completely out of the blue. No feedback, no replies to any emails I've sent and fobbed off when you finally get to speak to someone. Shame I didn't read the reviews before signing up with them. Not sure if or when when we will ever get paid out. Reviewed on: 14th January 2025
