Nothing decent about them

It's been 6 weeks since I have put a claim in but still not getting anything back from them. I phoned up and I have been told it will be another 10-20 working days before they can do anything about it so that could be 10 weeks before you could get your claim back. I would never recommend this insurance company to anyone. If I could give no stars then I would have done it. Reviewed on: 11th December 2023

Check the small print!!

Took 10 weeks to say they only insure up to £1500 for cruciate ligament surgery. My dogs operation was £4500. There's not a vet in the UK that would do it for £1500, so cover is totally inadequate Reviewed on: 3rd December 2023

Delays and so far Non payment of routine claim

Not worth getting involved with...I made a relatively small claim back in August as my dog had a kidney infection that required a vet visit, some tests and some medication. I filed all the required documentation and sent it in to ASDA but hear nothing for about 6 weeks...followed up multiple times and got some vague excuses. Today its December and now they are saying that they are asking my vet for more information (no details of what) - if they dont get it they say they will cancel the claim, if they do get it they say it will restart the whole claim process. At this stage, I accept that it's a scam and have not renewed with them for this year and moved to John Lewis instead. They are a joke...avoid. Reviewed on: 30th November 2023

And if you can't avoid - please please read every bit of documentation they give you, and everything on their website and links. Absolute charlatans who delay delay delay then don't pay on a technicality. I am a responsible dog owner who wouldn't dream of not having the right cover for my loved one - but with this policy, I may as well have not had any insurance at all. So best advice, if you really really have to use them, please read absolutely everything as they will get out of paying. Reviewed on: 6th November 2023

Do not use!

It took them three weeks to respond to my claim, I received no confirmation email so had to call and check they had received it. When they did reply, they said I hadn’t filled out one of the pages (I had). I replied letting them know that I’d completed it, and have received no response since. That was three weeks ago. Worse pet insurance ever

Whatever you do don't take Asda pet insurance out. It is absolutely useless, ridiculous caps on certain surgeries, and customer service from hell .Don't waste your money go with someone else (infact anyone else will be better).....you'll thank me believe me Reviewed on: 24th July 2023

Appalling

Took well over a month for claim to be settled, Asda Pet Insurance had actually had our claim forms for two weeks before deciding they needed further info from the emergency vet and they sent us a "if info is not received within 30 days claim will be closed" extremely threatening but as they were not asking us to provide further info but actually a third party being the emergency vet why employ such a threatening tone, the emergency vet replied to them immediately so then Asda decided they needed further info again but from out own vet, again the same thirty days threatening email and again it was a third party they were contacting for further info, not us, I cannot understand why the claims handler upon reviewing our claim failed to see further info was required from TWO different sources and request ALL info at SAME time, this would certainly seem like common sense which is something quite clearly in very short supply at Asda Pet Insurance, I complained about this unnecessary delay in requesting information and received a very abrupt response basically saying I had no right to complain about the assessor asking for info from one source one day and another source the next day, they have also seen fit to deduct £146.00 from our claim stating it was over "the £100 emergency vet fee" this is despite our young dog being treated on Saturday night and being told by the vet that if he continued to be sick or worsen in anyway we had to take him back, he did continue to worsen overnight so we had to take him back the following day, being a Sunday, we were following medical advice yet Asda seem to think they know better, in summing up there is a good reason why they are cheap, they are neither competent nor in anyway bothered about even attempting to offer even a modicum of customer service, AVOID !!!!!!!! lengthy wait but otherwise good experience

when our dog became ill we didn't hesitate authorising and paying for all the treatment, when it came to making a claim the process was simple enough. I had read reviews and to be honest wasn't confident about any of the claims being paid out. we sadly lost our dog shortly afterwards. it took almost 2 months for the decision on the claims and all were paid out less excess etc. we did have our last claim which I hadn't bothered submitting however we did submit this. I had continued with paying the insurance as I read that this would need to be paid for the full year ( we, were paying monthly). the last claim alerted the insurers to our dogs passing. we received a lovely email sending their condolences, and a further email advising that they had taken care of cancelling the policy and a refund was on its way, again not what we, asked for or expected. yes the wait was long for the claims to be settled, however once the first one was done the rest were done In days, we hadn't chased these up much as to be honest we didn't really care by then, however, maybe if we had it would have been done quicker.
